Having previously faced each other in the second, third and fourth tiers, Hull and Brentford meet at top-flight level for the first time ever, with both attempting to respond to a defeat.

Match News and Current Form

Hull began life back in the Premier League with back-to-back victories, but were beaten 1-0 on the road by Fulham last weekend and are now winless in six across all competitions (D3, L3). Sergej Jakirović’s side remain in the top half of the table pre-round regardless and will be pleased with much of what they have achieved, especially at the MKM Stadium, where they are yet to be beaten this term (W1, D2). The Tigers could now become only the third newly-promoted side across the last 11 seasons to remain unbeaten across their first four Premier League home games.

When Hull enjoyed their first Premier League season in 2008/09, Brentford lifted the League Two title, but the Bees are now into their sixth straight top-flight campaign and are seeing their strong start fade. Keith Andrews’ men tasted defeat for the first time this season last week as they were reduced to nine men in a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, and it’s now just one win in six in the league since thrashing Tottenham on the opening day (D4). Their pre-round top-six standing will become increasingly perilous if a trend of dropping 11 points from winning positions this term continues, while they’ve also not won on the road in the Premier League since February (D6, L2).

Head-to-Head History

This will be the first H2H since a 5-1 Brentford win in 2020. Hull have won only one of the last five meetings (D2, L2), while Brentford have never won a Premier League game in Yorkshire (D4, L1).

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Betting Analysis

Hull are rather unfancied here, but their good home form and Brentford’s travelling struggles makes Hull in the double chance market appealing.
