Group leaders Greece aim to finish this opening set of UEFA Nations League (UNL) League A fixtures unbeaten as they host Germany, who they beat on matchday two.

Match News and Current Form

Greece have adapted impressively to the UNL’s top tier following promotion in the last cycle and are sitting two points clear at the top of Group A2 following Thursday’s 2-2 draw with the Netherlands (W2, D1). Ivan Jovanović’s side will be tinged with disappointment that their cushion isn’t larger having squandered a 2-0 lead in that game, but the 2004 European champions relish this competition having now won 12 of their last 15 UNL games (D1, L2). The Greeks still have work to do to make themselves a dominant force at home though having won just one of the last five games they hosted (D1, L3), failing to score in all three of those defeats.

Germany are eyeing up finishing this international window strongly after they got off the mark under Jürgen Klopp at the third time of asking by beating Serbia 2-0 in Munich on Thursday (D1, L1). Victory brought a timely end to a four-match winless run and put them firmly into the mix for a quarter-final spot as they bid to bypass the group stage for the second UNL cycle in succession. Their chances of replicating the first-place finish they managed in their group in the last cycle likely hinge on a victory here, but that could certainly be deemed a realistic possibility having lost just one competitive away game since the start of 2025 (W3, D1).

Head-to-Head History

Greece’s 1-0 H2H win in Augsburg on matchday two was their first, ending a run of ten previous winless meetings with Germany (D3, L7), while they’ve lost three of the four previous clashes at home (D1).

Hot Stats and Streaks

Four of Greece’s last five internationals produced at least one goal after the 70th minute.

Four of Greece’s last five competitive home fixtures featured over 10.5 corners.

Germany’s last five games produced exactly one second-half goal.

Germany’s last four competitive away internationals featured under 2.5 goals.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Georgios Masouras has scored twice across Greece’s last five games, with both goals coming in first or second-half injury time, and he already has a career goal against Germany, scoring in a friendly back in June 2024. After netting his first international goal against Serbia, Germany’s Tom Bischof has four goal contributions across his last three appearances for any side (G1, A3) - his last three goals for club or country arrived between the 20th and 40th minute.

Christos Tzolis lasted just 17 minutes for Greece against the Netherlands with what looked like a serious hamstring issue, while Germany’s new-look squad for the third and fourth round of fixtures looks close to full strength.

Betting Analysis

Greece’s patchy home form and Germany’s fine travelling record suggest it might be worth taking a chance on backing Germany to win and under 2.5 goals.
