Mirra Andreeva must set aside her disappointing start to the Asian swing and remove Yue Yuan in Beijing in straight sets.

Match News and Form

Mirra Andreeva was given a rude shock when she lost to Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals of Singapore last week. The result had followed a disappointing North American swing in which she exited Toronto and Cincinnati relatively early and sustained a cruel quarterfinal loss at the US Open.

Yue Yuan was having a dreadful season in the run-up to the China Open but did exceptionally well to defeat Oleksandra Oliynykova in the first round in straight sets. This is her first WTA main-draw win since Charleston, a moment which couldn't have come any sooner for the world No. 135.

Head to Head

This will be their first meeting.

Stats and Facts

Mirra Andreeva has won multiple matches in each of her three previous appearances at the China Open.

Andreeva is on an eight-match winning streak against outside-top-100 players this season.

Yue Yuan seeks her second and biggest top-10 win after the one against Qinwen Zheng in Indian Wells in 2024.

Yuan has never gone past the second round in her three previous main-draw appearances in Beijing.

Betting Analysis

Mirra Andreeva hasn't exactly played her best tennis since winning her maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros this summer, but she would be more than a handful for the Chinese player in the second round.
