In one of the potential 'steals' of the 2026 trade week, Collingwood have handed pick number 75 in the national draft to the Giants in exchange for Hogan, who is speculated to be taking up a base salary in the vicinity of $350-400k with performance bonuses that could net him as much as $600k.
With their midfield and their tall forward options lacking in 2026, Collingwood have already made two statements of intent during the off-season by landing dual Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale from Brisbane and 2024 Coleman Medallist Hogan.
Hogan is also a four-time club leading goalscorer, doing so twice at inaugural club Melbourne in 2015 and 2016 before again going back-to-back with the Giants in 2024 and 2025.
2026 looked to be just as positive for the spearhead forward when he booted five goals for Western Australia in the long-awaited return of competitive State of Origin, winning the Graham Moss Medal as WA's best on ground.
But he would go on to play only nine games for the Giants this year after a spate of absences including a quad injury, a month-long hip injury and an even longer time on the sideline with split webbing in his hand and a fractured finger.
Collingwood will be hoping the 31-year-old can pick up where he left off in 2025, when he booted an excellent 46 goals in 16 appearances, before taking his career tally into the 400s during an otherwise frustrating and stop-start 2026.
The trade news will come as no surprise after Hogan announced his intention to move to Collingwood in early September.
Remarkably, he will become the first Coleman Medallist to wear the black and white since Scott Cummings played just five games for the club in the 2002 season.
