Chelsea winger Estevao Willian has returned to Brazil to continue recovering from a hamstring injury at his former club Palmeiras.

The 19-year-old faces a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of the upcoming World Cup, with his place in the squad now under serious threat.

He has been out of action since April 18th, when he picked up the injury during Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

Before that setback, Estevao was widely expected to be included, having impressed since his international debut.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team will begin their campaign against Morocco on June 13th, leaving limited time for his return. Drawn in Group C alongside Morocco, Scotland and Haiti, Brazil are aiming to win their first World Cup since 2002.
