Brynas fell to a heavy loss to champions Skelleftea on opening night, but roared back in style with an early contender for biggest win of the season, hammering Linkoping 9-2 away from home and inflicting a first loss of the season on the hosts.
Oskar Lindblom and Jakob Silfverberg had the visitors 2-0 up after one period, and though Arvid Degerstedt pulled one back, Linus Olund, Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Gustav Hillstrom ensured Brynas would be four goals clear by the end of two.
Olund and Lindblom added their second goals in the third period, as Axel Andersson and Johan Larsson completed the rout while Loke Krantz grabbed a consolation for Linkoping. With no goals but four assists, Anton Rodin was the top point-scorer of the match.
The meeting of Frolunda and Farjestad meant one side was guaranteed to win their first two matches, and that honour went to Frolunda, but only thanks to a penalty shootout success which ensured a 3-2 win.
Farjestad began with a 7-0 win over Orebro, but a repeat of that performance was wiped out six minutes in when Filip Hasa put the home side ahead, despite Viktor Lodin levelling before the end of the period and Joakim Nygard's strike having them 2-1 up after 40 minutes. Henrik Tommernes' goal forced overtime and after no decisive goal, a shootout was required.
Christoffer Jansson scored first for FBK, then Jacob Peterson levelled for Frolunda, before Samuel Johannesson stepped up with the fifth penalty for the home side and tucked it home.
Vaxjo started their season with a narrow loss, and another nervy evening was in store when they and Malmo went to overtime, but it was the Lakers who prevailed, 4-3, to get their first two points, while the Redhawks have now won one and lost one in OT this season.
Joel Persson scored to halve what was an early 2-0 lead for Malmo, and then he made it 3-3 with his second of the game to force the extra period, where Matias Mantykivi scored with seconds left of a powerplay to rival his teammate for the home fans' hero of the game.
Much like Brynas, also bouncing back from a heavy loss in round one were Orebro, who handed Timra their second defeat from two matches with a 5-1 success. Patrik Karlkvist gave Orebro a 2-1 lead late in the second period, but Milton Oscarson, Erik Noren and a second for Robin Salo saw the visitors pull clear in the third.
Timra and Djurgarden are the only two teams still on zero points as the latter were beaten 3-1 by last season's runners-up, Rogle, who are off the mark for the season. Lubos Horky and Joel Kellman struck in quick succession early in period two before Noel Gunler pulled one back, but Albin Sundsvik made sure early in the final period.
