Swedish Hockey League (SHL) leaders Farjestad made it seven wins in a row but were taken to penalties by Lulea, while Frolunda and Malmo both returned to form in style with impressive shutout wins, while Timra recorded another victory.

Farjestad's previous six wins in their current run were all wrapped up in 60 minutes, but they had to settle for two points at home to Lulea, who took the leaders the distance despite now sitting in eighth place and picking up no wins in three.

The only two goals of the game came within two minutes of each other in the second period - Christoffer Jansson gave the hosts the lead on a powerplay, only for Joona Koppanen to level soon after Lulea were back to full strength. Despite 32 shots on goal for Farjestad to the visitors' 14, they couldn't find a way through for the rest of regulation time or overtime.

But FBK finally did so in the shootout, as the first nine penalties were missed, before Jack Berglund found the net to win it 2-1 in sudden death.

Frolunda followed their six-game unbeaten start with two defeats, but are back to winning ways after a 3-0 win over bottom-of-the-table Linkoping. The visitors scored once in each period through Erik Thorell, Jacob Peterson and Max Friberg, while Tobias Normann made 20 saves to earn a shutout. The Gothenburg side cut the gap to Farjestad to four points.

Also recording a shutout were Malmo, who responded to a 6-2 loss at FBK by thrashing Orebro 6-0 for their third win in four, while it's four defeats in five now for the visitors. Carl Persson had scored a hat-trick by the 37th minute, as Janne Kuokkanen, Peter Diliberatore and Oscar Eklind completed the rout. Marek Langhamer was called up to make just 14 saves. The result saw the Redhawks climb to seventh, above Orebro, who slip to ninth.

Timra came from a goal down in period three to beat HV 71 2-1 after overtime, as Dylan McLaughlin struck the winner for their third win in a row, going level with HV on nine points. With three of their four wins this season coming in OT, Timra remain the wrong side of the relegation line, and HV just above.

Back at the right end of the table, Skelleftea went third after a 2-1 win over Vaxjo, who also are nine points. The champions went above IF Bjorkloven, who were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline against Rogle, who preserved their top-six position. Brynas stay fifth after Jaret Anderson-Dolan scored an overtime winner to beat Djurgarden 3-2.
