The battle for the Le Mat Trophy in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) playoff finals is back on again after Rogle beat Skelleftea 2-1 after overtime to cut their overall series deficit to 2-1.

The number one seeds had looked too strong in their two home games to open the 2026 finals, winning 4-1 and 5-1, but Rogle did just enough to get off the mark back at home in Angelholm.

Skelleftea appeared to be giving them every chance of doing that in the first period, as Pontus Johansson and Max Krogdahl both spent two minutes in the penalty box, before the visitors had too many men on the ice, but Rogle failed to score from any of the powerplays.

The hosts had six more shots on goal than Skelleftea in the first period, then did the same in the second as the away side continued to have discipline issues - Johansson was called for a second time before they again committed too many bodies to the ice.

Finally, almost 16 minutes into the second period, Rogle made one of the powerplays count, when Josh Dickinson and Karson Kuhlman combined to set up Fredrik Olofsson, who took his time before firing in for his fourth postseason goal.

But in the third period, SAIK managed to keep their discipline, and it paid dividends with 10 minutes remaining, when a forward pass from Johansson found Victor Stjernborg in space on the left. He cut inside and finished well to send the game to overtime.

It took over six minutes of the extra period, but RBK ensured the first three matches of the series went the way of the home side - Linus Sandin used his speed down the right side before squaring the puck across for Anton Bengtsson to apply the finish and win it 2-1.

Playing in their third SHL finals and their second against Skelleftea, Rogle are now one win away from their best performance, having lost 4-1 on both previous occasions. Their chance to level the series comes at home again on Thursday 30th.
