Today's the day that the women's champion of the 2026 Madrid Open will be crowned, with Mirra Andreeva going up against Marta Kostyuk in the final.

12:15 CET - It's not a final that anybody would have expected, pitting ninth seed Andreeva against 26th seed Kostyuk, but both players are very much worthy of their place in it.

Andreeva has dropped just one set on her way to the final in the Spanish capital and has won 12 of her 13 matches on clay in 2026. That run of form has seen her lift the title in Linz and make the semi-finals in Stuttgart.

The 19-year-old saw off 30th seed Hailey Baptiste to reach the final here, saving three set points in an epic tiebreak to seal a 6-4, 7-6 victory.

Kostyuk's clay-court season has been equally as impressive. She's yet to lose on the red stuff in 2026, boasting a 100% record from her 10 matches, and also one title to her name thanks to her triumph in Rouen.

In Madrid, she's seen off world number five Jessica Pegula in straight sets, and beat surprise package Anastasia Potapova in the semis.
