The third-round stage of the Monte Carlo Masters has arrived, and by the end of the day, we will be down to just eight. Monaco plays host to a number of fabulous match-ups, with the world's best two players, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, both set to take to the court.

22:30 CET - And then there were eight! The quarter-finals are now set, and there's plenty of reason to be excited for them.

Can Sinner and Alcaraz continue to march towards their first meeting of the year? Can Fonseca make a real statement by claiming the biggest win of his career against Zverev? And can Vacherot continue to send the home crowd wild?

All of that will be answered tomorrow, so be sure to join us in our brand new tracker in the morning to keep up with it all!

21:23 CET - The final match of the day has seen home hero Valentin Vacherot keep his dream - the biggest of his career - of winning the Monte Carlo title alive, with him fighting back from a set down to beat Hubert Hurkacz 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4.

It was one heck of a battle, with both the first and third sets lasting over an hour, and Vacherot was under pressure more often than not, facing 13 break points, but he saved 11 of them and took four of his eight.

His reward is a quarter-final clash De Minaur that he'll very much fancy his chances in, with him in fine form and a rampant crowd behind him.

18:25 CET  - Alex De Minaur is into the quarter-finals of Monte Carlo for a second year in a row, seeing off the challenge of Belgian qualifier Alexander Blockx, 7-5, 7-6(4).

It was a really good performance from both players, with Blockx really impressing this week in Monaco. However, the reliable De Minaur showed his experience, playing the big points better.

He will face the winner of Hubert Hurkacz and home favourite Valentin Vacherot, who are up next!

18:07 CET - Carlos Alcaraz has survived a serious test from clay-court specialist Tomas Martin Etcheverry, battling past the Argentine 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 in two hours and 25 minutes.

The defending champion in Monte Carlo was extremely erratic, and his performance from the second set onwards was peculiar. He had a whopping 45 winners, but also a staggering 47 unforced errors.

The world number one marches on as he looks to retain his place at the summit of the world rankings, winning his 15th match in a row on clay.

16:13 CET - Carlos Alcaraz has absolutely flown through his first set against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, winning it 6-1 in just 26 minutes and losing just five points on his serve in the process.

If he prevails, he'll next face Alexander Bublik, with the eighth seed just sealing an impressive 6-2, 7-5 win over Miami runner-up Jiri Lehecka.

15:26 CET - Sinner survives! The Italian regrouped, breaking serve early, and took advantage of some physical issues for Machac to beat the Czech player 6-1, 6-7, 6-3.

His serving was back to its scary best in the deciding set, with his first-serve percentage climbing to 74%, up from 46% in the second, and just two points on those first serves being lost.

As a result, he becomes just the fourth player ever to win his first 14 Masters 1000 matches of a season, after Pete Sampras, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic. Not bad company to keep.

14:53 CET - Tomas Machac has just won the second set against Jannik Sinner, meaning that the latter's record of 37 consecutive sets won at 1000 level, dating all the way back to the Paris Masters at the end of last year, has come to an end!

Sinner looks to be really struggling physically for whatever reason, and if Machac can continue this level, he might be able to pull off a huge upset.

14:30 CET - Felix Auger-Aliassime continues his best run at Monte Carlo, booking his spot in the last eight after his opponent, Casper Ruud, unfortunately had to retire from the match trailing 7-5, 2-2.

It was an extremely competitive and entertaining contest in the first set, with Auger-Aliassime battling back from an early 3-0 deficit. However, Ruud pulled up with a leg injury in the second game of the second set and was unable to continue.

The Canadian has now reached the quarter-finals at every 1000 event, becoming the first Canadian to do so, and the 13th active player. He will face either Jannik Sinner or Tomac Machac next.

13:05 CET - Alexander Zverev has set up an extremely enticing quarter-final meeting with Joao Fonseca in Monte Carlo after a 6-2, 7-5 win over Zizou Bergs.

Zverev made hard work of things towards the end of the match, failing to serve out at the first opportunity. However, he was too strong for his opponent and broke again straight away before finishing things off.

It is the German's 14th clay-court quarter-final at 1000 level, and according to Opta, only Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and David Ferrer have reached more.

12:28 CET - Joao Fonseca has moved into his very first Masters 1000 quarter-final after an authoritative 6-3, 6-2 victory over Matteo Berrettini.

It was a super strong performance from the 19-year-old, commanding points from the off after landing 70% of first serves. However, Berrettini really struggled throughout the match, making just 45% of his first serves and committing 24 unforced errors. He was nowhere near his best.

According to Opta, Fonseca has now become the youngest player to reach the Monte Carlo quarter-finals since Rafael Nadal in 2005. The Brazilian will face either third seed Alexander Zverev or Zizou Bergs next.

11:04 CET - Right then, the players are heading out onto court and play is set to get underway in the coming minutes.

09:00 CET - Good morning and welcome back to our live coverage of the Monte Carlo Masters, on a really fun day of third-round action.

Play is set to get underway at 11:00 CET, with third seed Alexander Zverev taking on Zizou Bergs, and Joao Fonseca clashing with Matteo Berrettini in what is going to be a really lively contest. Both players will have tonnes of support, and the atmosphere will be fantastic.

Court Rainier III then sees Jannik Sinner continue his quest for the world number one ranking against Tomas Machac, before Carlos Alcaraz looks to fend him off when he comes up against Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Last up on the main court, home favourite Valentin Vacherot, who defeated last year's runner-up Lorenzo Musetti in the second round, faces Hubert Hurkacz.

Following Fonseca vs Berrettini on Court des Princes, sixth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime faces an extremely tough test against clay specialist Casper Ruud, who looked so comfortable with the red dirt under his feet in his win over Corentin Moutet.

Jiri Lehecka will then want to continue his good form after reaching the final in Miami with some strong performances on the clay, but eighth seed Alexander Bublik stands in his way.

Finally, Alex de Minaur goes head-to-head with surprise package Alexander Blockx, who is into the third round after coming through the qualifiers.
