The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Montreal Canadiens 1-0 on Friday night to force a Game 7 after a nail-biter of a game.

Gage Goncalves scored his first career overtime game-winning goal and his first goal in the last 16 games dating back to the regular season as he kept the Lightning's season alive.

His goal came on the 63rd shot and the 53rd scoring chance between both teams.

Game 7 between the Canadiens and Lightning is scheduled for May 3rd.

Recap & Highlights

After the first three minutes following puck drop, the game would go on for seven straight minutes without a single whistle.

The first period of Game 6 was just the third of the entire series that didn't see a single goal. After a Jake Guentzel high-sticking penalty with 10 seconds to go, the Habs would have a power play with 1:50 carrying over into the second.

After killing off the first power play of the game, Tampa was almost the first team to get on the scoreboard. But Montreal's Phillip Danault was at the right place at the right time to deny the puck just as it was about to cross the line.

It would remain scoreless once again through the second period, making it the fourth scoreless period, as both teams headed into the third without a goal for the first time in the series.

The scoreless battle came at the hands of fantastic goalie play. Jakub Dobes (MTL) headed into the third with 16 saves, while Andrei Vasilevskiy put up 17, including a double split-save in what looked to be an easy goal for Ivan Demidov

After a Tampa Bay power play and both teams in a 4-on-4 situation, the game remained scoreless. With five minutes left to go, both teams also had exactly 25 shots on goal each.

Tampa would have another golden opportunity after Demidov got a two-minute minor for goalie interference after trying to deke his way to the net, crashing into Vasilevskiy.

But despite having the puck in the offensive zone for almost the entire power play, putting up shot after shot, the Lightning couldn't come away with a goal, forcing the game to go to overtime.

Dobes would come in the clutch for the Habs, as he went into overtime with a game-leading 28 saves... But it wasn't enough as Tampa would force a Game 7.
