The National Hockey League's 10-game slate on Halloween is here, as action from around the league is giving us some sweet goals and scary hits!

Oilers 4-0 Islanders

Connor McDavid picked up his league-leading 29th assist of the season to extend his opening point streak to 14 games. If he records an assist next game, he will be the only player in NHL history to record 30 assists through their first 15 games of the season.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (3) scored two of the Oilers' four goals, with Vasily Podkolzin (9) and Jason Dickinson (1) scoring the others.

Edmonton are coming off back-to-back four-goal shutouts as they currently hold the third-best point differential (+17) behind the Carolina Hurricanes (+20) and Boston Bruins (+19).

Meanwhile, the Islanders are back in the loss column after a shootout and overtime win heading into Saturday's matchup.

Oilers record: 10-2-2

Islanders record: 7-5-2

Bruins 5-4 Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks took a 4-2 lead in the third period thanks to back-to-back goals from Ryan Greene (2) and Connor Bedard (4). But a goal from Boston's Mason Lohrei (3) less than a minute after Bedard's, followed up by Morgan Geekie's second of the year with 12 seconds left, sent the game into overtime.

Elias Lindholm pulled a trick on the Blackhawks and sent them back to the locker room with a loss hanging over their heads after scoring his fifth of the season for the OT game-winner.

Chicago put up a season-high 41 shots on goal, almost doubling their season average of 23.0 per game, which ranks 31st in the league.

Anton Frondell (3) came up just one goal short of his first career hat trick after he was stonewalled by Boston goalie Michael DiPietro in overtime.

Bruins record: 10-4-1 (W1)

Blackhawks record: 4-9-1 (L2)

Predators 5-4 Lightning

In another 5-4 thriller, the Nashville Predators got back in the win column after Steven Stamkos scored the game-winner in a shootout.

Both teams exchanged goals after the Tampa Bay Lightning took an early 2-1. But it was Stamkos who sent the game into overtime thanks to the only power-play goal of the game between the two teams, also his eighth of the year.

Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov wracked up a season-high three assists on the day after he officially requested a trade from the team.

Predators record: 5-4-5 (W1)

Lightning record: 8-3-2 (L1)

Blues 5-4 Red Wings

Yes, another 5-4 win. This time it came at the hands of a St. Louis Blues team that only put up a whopping 15 shots on goal compared to the Detroit Red Wings' 28. They had one SOG in the entire first period, and that was Dalibor Dvorsky's third goal of the season that gave the Blues an early 1-0 lead.

Detroit battled back with three straight goals before the Blues proceeded to score four of the game's next five.

J.T. Compher and Keegan Kolesar each scored their first goals of the season for Detroit, while Aleksanteri Kaskimaki scored his first for the Blues, just 18 seconds after Justin Barron (2) tied it up 4-4 in the third.

Blues record: 7-6-1 (W2)

Red Wings record: 6-5-3 (L1)

Senators 5-1 Sharks

How about another five-goal win? This time it was the Ottawa Senators who pulled it off thanks to four straight unanswered goals after the San Jose Sharks tied it up 1-1.

Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle both scored their ninth goals of the season, while Dylan Cozens and Shane Pinto each recorded a goal and an assist.

Ottawa outshot San Jose 35-23, putting up double-digit shots through all three periods while holding San Jose to single-digit shots in each.

The Senators are 6-2 against the Sharks dating back to 2024 and have won five of their last six meetings.

Senators record: 9-5-1 (W1)

Sharks record: 7-7-1 (L1)

Sabres 3-2 Kings

The Buffalo Sabres scored one goal in each period, two from Tage Thompson to bring his season total to 10. That's all that was needed, thanks to Ukko-Pekka

Luukkonen's season-best 27-save performance.

Luukkonen had been struggling mightily this season. He's given up at least three goals in eight of his 10 starts. But he rebounded as the Sabres won their third straight.

Los Angeles' struggles continue. After their first games to start the season, both resulting in losses, the Kings have yet to put up more than two goals in any of their other nine losses. Their 36 goals this season rank bottom-five in the league.

Sabres record: 7-4-3 (W3)

Kings record: 4-7-2 (L1)
