Mannsverk, who signed a "multi-year contract" in Prague, is particularly valued at Sparta for his ability to combine technical quality with a physical approach to the game.
"Sivert is the sort of player who can bring balance to the team and help control the centre of the pitch; he’s also good at organising play. He’s constantly looking for the ball and actively seeks out spaces where he can make himself available to his teammates," said sporting director Tomas Rosicky of the Norwegian player.
"He’s physically strong, aggressive and active in challenges. It’s precisely this combination of technical ability and physicality that we need from our deep-lying central midfielders," Rosicky added on the club’s website.
Sparta’s sporting director also likes Mannsverk’s character: “Over the course of last season, he often didn’t play in his ideal position, yet he always demonstrated his work ethic and willingness to commit to the team. He’s a strong character who isn’t afraid to stand up for his teammates and the club. He’s shown us the right mentality. That’s why we wanted him to continue with us.”
The 24-year-old Mannsverk joined Ajax from Norwegian side Molde in 2023 for a fee of €6 million, but only made 18 appearances for the Amsterdam side. Mannsverk joined Cardiff City on a six-month loan in January 2025 before moving to Czechia on loan.
Mannsverk made 27 appearances for Sparta Prague last season and provided two assists along the way.
“I’m thrilled to be here. I was confident that the negotiations between the clubs would go well and that Sparta would manage to finalise the transfer. I’m already looking forward to seeing the lads again,” said Mannsverk after signing the contract.
