The turbulent episodes within the Senegal national team continue after their elimination in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, losing 3-2 to Belgium after extra time.

Pape Thiaw immediately stepped down as head coach of Senegal, and Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese federation, has now added another - unusual - episode to the aftermath of their World Cup exit.

According to him, the national team's doctor for the past ten years is unqualified and is in fact a gynaecologist.

"I recently found out that Dr. Fedior is actually a gynaecologist and obstetrician by profession," said Fall.

"In fact, our main doctor did not have the proper academic qualifications to oversee our players," he added.

"At this level, and according to the feedback I received, the players did not have full confidence," he concluded.
