Juventus may step up their interest in Guglielmo Vicario, with the goalkeeper emerging as an alternative to Emi Martinez in their search for a new No. 1 this summer.

Juve want to sign a new stopper and have been alerted to the possibility of landing Vicario, who is going to be allowed to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

Exploring the conditions around such a transfer will determine whether it is truly an option for them - but sources are indicating that Juve are one of the Italian clubs interested in a deal, with Napoli and Fiorentina also thought to be in the picture at this stage.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Martinez, who is at the World Cup with Argentina, is considered the top choice for Juventus.

But as they wait to discover how difficult it will be to take him away from English football, they are also having to consider other options.

Vicario moved to Spurs from Empoli in 2023 and is open minded about the prospect of now returning to Serie A.

Juve sources say the prospect of making a move for Vicario has become more interesting to them in recent times and could become even more so in the next week as Spurs begin to look more closely at their own goalkeeping situation.

They recently signed Martin Dubravka as a free agent but are interested in Manchester City's James Trafford as they weigh up what to do if they sell Vicario.

Previously it had seemed like a straight permanent transfer would be the ideal way of moving Vicario on, but there could be other options that open up.

Juve would prefer to take him on loan initially if they do try to sign him, and insiders say that could become possible - if they are willing to do so with an obligation to buy.

He has a price tag in the region of £15-20 million depending on how any future move is negotiated and it is anticipated that the situation starts to move on very soon.
