Manchester United recently confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as their permanent head coach on a two-year contract after the sacking of Ruben Amorim in January.
Amorim won 25 of his 63 games in charge of the Red Devils and was brutally sacked by the board, making it the shortest reign of a permanent manager at United since David Moyes was sacked just eight months into his tenure in 2014.
Carrick’s start next season means De Ligt will play under another new manager at the start of the new campaign, adding to the horde of coaches he has played under since the start of his professional career a decade ago.
The Dutchman has featured under 11 different managers, all coming in different seasons, in what is an astonishing and yet somewhat worrying statistic for the defender and anyone who hopes to manage him.
Interestingly, he has been in two sides - Ajax and United - which had Erik ten Hag in charge whilst the defender operated at the back.
