After Arne Slot's departure, Liverpool have wasted no time in picking his replacement. Andoni Iraola, the outgoing Bournemouth boss, looks set to be appointed by the Reds as their new permanent head coach after reportedly agreeing terms.

Although he managed to win the Premier League title in his very first season with Liverpool, Arne Slot couldn't survive a difficult campaign.

No trophies in his second season, no major performance in the Champions League: after weeks of hesitation, the Reds' board finally decided to dismiss the Dutch coach over the weekend.

As soon as Slot was let go, Andoni Iraola's name was being whispered. It made sense, as the Spanish coach is at the end of his contract with Bournemouth, whom he led to a remarkable sixth place finish this season in the Premier League.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, terms are already agreed 'in principle' and Iraola looks set to be named Liverpool's new head coach imminently.

Besides Slot, Mohamed Salah is also leaving Liverpool and other key players are expected to depart as well.

The incoming Basque tactician will thus have his work cut out for him, but he'll have resources and plenty of quality players. Whether that's enough to get them back to the top remains to be seen.
