As Casemiro prepares for his final game for Manchester United, another Brazilian midfielder is emerging as a serious target at Old Trafford.

Sources have confirmed to Flashscore that Ederson remains firmly on United’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Atalanta midfielder admired internally for both his versatility and experience at the highest level of European football.

United are preparing for a significant rebuild in midfield this summer after securing qualification for the Champions League, with the club aware that a far busier schedule next season will require greater depth and flexibility across the squad.

We recently revealed on Flashscore that United are prepared to sign as many as three midfield players before the start of next season as they reshape the core of the team.

Ederson, 26, is viewed as a reliable and tactically adaptable player, capable of strengthening multiple aspects of the midfield.

While he would not arrive as one of the marquee names of the summer, sources insist a player of his profile is considered an important part of the club’s recruitment plans.

The Brazilian has impressed decision-makers, with his physical intensity and composure in big games highlighted.

United are planning for changes within the current squad. Kobbie Mainoo recently signed a new contract, but Manuel Ugarte is increasingly likely to leave as part of the summer reshuffle.

Casemiro’s successful spell at Old Trafford is certainly approaching its conclusion, as Sunday will be his final involvement. He is being linked with a move to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.

His planned exit means the club have known they need to accelerate work on identifying midfielders early.

United’s interest in Ederson is genuine, although any active move will now depend on how Atalanta value the midfielder during initial contacts. It is anticipated United would be looking to pay around £35 million to sign him.

Ederson's contract at Atalanta runs to 2027 and he has not progressed on terms for a new deal, so a good price should be achievable.

Sources are indicating that supporters should prepare for an aggressive period of transfer business at Old Trafford this summer, with Ederson expected to be one of the early names explored as United assess which deals are achievable before pre-season begins.
