Sports director and Billie Jean Cup team captain, Jens Anker Andersen, has been sacked by the Danish Tennis Federation.

On Wednesday morning, the Danish Tennis Federation announced that sports director Jens Anker Andersen will leave the federation, where he has been employed since 2014.

Jens Anker Andersen says to Ekstra Bladet that he was surprised to receive the message on Tuesday morning.

"I've been sacked. It just has to settle. It was justified by an organizational change, and of course, it must be done. Whether I understand it or not doesn't really matter. There is nothing to be done about it. It's really hard to put into words, I think. It is too early. I'm not mad, I'd say. It is the way it is. I don't think anyone is mad at me either."

The Danish Tennis Federation has instead chosen to employ Martin Linnet Killemose in a newly created position as deputy director. He will henceforth be responsible for the sports management part and for the association's finances.

Killemose has been tennis manager at KB Tennis for the past six years.
