After Amanda Anisimova's triumph in Beijing, the women head quickly over to Wuhan for what is the final WTA 1000 event of the year. Meanwhile, the Shanghai Masters continues after a mad opening few days.

13:07 CET - Eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti is safely through in Shanghai after coming out on top in two competitive sets to beat Italian compatriot Luciano Darderi 7-5, 7-6(1).

Over in Wuhan, Clara Tauson, Antonia Ruzic and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro have all progressed to the next round.

12:02 CET - The 15th seed has been sent home in Wuhan with Diana Shnaider losing 6-4, 6-4 to qualifier Katerina Siniakova, while young talent Maya Joint has beaten Lin Zhu 7-5, 7-6 (10), sealing victory on her fifth match point in an epic tiebreak.

10:49 CET - Over in Wuhan, Belgium's Elise Mertens is through to the second round after battling through a tight opening set to defeat Polina Kudermetova 7-6(5), 6-3.

10:45 CET - Jiri Lehecka is the latest man to advance in Shanghai after a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Denis Shapovalov.

09:57 CET - Seventh seed Alex de Minaur and 12th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime have progressed in Shanghai after straight-set victories over Kamil Majchrzak and Jesper de Jong, respectively.

Meanwhile, in Wuhan, Katerina Siniakova is through to the second round, with the Czech qualifier beating Diana Shnaider 6-4, 6-4.

Play continues in Shanghai today, with a tournament that has been ripped wide open after Jannik Sinner's retirement yesterday. Currently, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alex De Minaur are on court and will be looking to book their spots in the last 16.

Later on, Lorenzo Musetti, Beijing finalist Learner Tien, Daniil Medvedev, and the highest remaining seed, Alexander Zverev, will all be in action.

Meanwhile, the Wuhan Open gets underway on the WTA Tour, in what is the final women's 1000 event of the year.

There have been a few results already, with Hailey Baptiste seeing off compatriot Ashlyn Krueger 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 and Marie Bouzkova proving too strong for wildcard Camila Osorio, 6-3, 6-4.

Diana Shnaider is currently facing off against Czech star Katerina Siniakova, while Clara Tauson and Maya Joint will start their campaigns a little later on. The standout clash of the day sees Ekaterina Alexandrova take on Victoria Mboko, which begins this afternoon.
