From football to F1 and everything in between, there's always tons to watch over the weekend, often too much. As a result, our news editors have gone through the calendar to highlight the best of the sporting action from Friday evening through to Sunday. Here are our Weekend Highlights:
Friday, September 4th
What better way to kick off the weekend than a blockbuster football clash? In fact, Friday serves up plenty in Europe's top leagues, with Liverpool, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain all in domestic league action.
Of the three big-name clashes, Ligue 1 feels like the place to be this Friday, with champions PSG hosting Monaco in a huge early-season tie. One of the two is top of the table and off to a flyer, with the other down in 11th after two rounds...
However, it's not the way around anyone would have expected, with Luis Enrique's Parisiens still yet to register a win in the league, while Filipe Luis' side are the only team with a perfect record in France still.
The 40-year-old Brazilian joined the Principality outfit as head coach in July, and he's started in some style - qualifying for Europe, as well as beating Marseille and Le Havre. That's all despite the club selling their prized asset, Maghnes Akliouche, to PSG in the summer.
Speaking of the capital club's business, they did some big buying in the transfer window, also bringing in Ferran Torres and Mika Godts. However, since edging Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup, PSG have lost to Lens in the Trophée des Champions and drawn twice in the league.
Back at the Parc des Princes for their first home game of the season, the pressure is on the reigning champions to get their campaign up and running. Easier said than done, though - Monaco won both meetings in the league last season!

Saturday, September 5th
The Netherlands' two biggest clubs will face off on Saturday evening, in a clash that feels like it could have huge repercussions for the title fight, even at this early stage.
PSV have dominated the Eredivisie since Peter Bosz took charge, winning the last three league titles and playing some stunning football in the process. They lost star men Ismael Saibari and Joey Veerman this summer, but after a strong end to the transfer window and back-to-back thrashings of Utrecht and Groningen, they're looking well placed to defend their title again.
However, this season's Ajax side could be their most formidable foe in a long time. A summer of change saw Michel take charge on the touchline and new director Jordi Cruyff sign 11 players, including high-profile Germans Marc Ter Stegen and Julian Brandt, and top African talents Simon Adingra and Tolo Arokodare. So far, the changes have had the desired impact, with the side claiming seven wins and two draws from their first nine matches of the season across the league and Conference League qualifying.
They've yet to face a side of PSV's quality though, and how they fare will provide the first real indication as to whether this is a false dawn, or whether one of Europe's biggest clubs are well and truly back.
It's a match-up that is usually fiery, should be high-quality given the strong state of both sides, and - given PSV's ultra-attacking style of football in particular - is guaranteed to feature a fair few goals.

Iva Jovic vs Alexandra Eala - TBD
After a thrilling opening five days in New York, the US Open third round gets underway over the weekend, with the headline clash seeing American teenager Iva Jovic take on Filipino sensation Alexandra Eala on Saturday.
Close friends off the court, Jovic and Eala are two of the most exciting talents on the WTA Tour, and despite being aged just 18 and 21 respectively, have already established themselves as firm fan favourites.
Seeded 14th at the tournament, Jovic leads the head-to-head 2-0, with both victories coming this year, including a dominant first-round triumph at the French Open.
Eala, however, has gone from strength to strength over the summer, securing a statement win over Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon, before claiming the biggest title of her career in Washington.
It promises to be an intriguing battle between two in-form players, and one that will surely be scheduled in a prime time slot on Arthur Ashe Stadium!

Sunday, September 6th
Italian Grand Prix - 15:00 CET
The Formula 1 circuit heads to one of the most iconic races on the calendar this weekend for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. And it is not just any Italian Grand Prix. Ferrari are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the legendary Michael Schumacher winning his first race for Ferrari at Monza with a special retro one-off Schumacher livery on both Charles Leclerc's and Lewis Hamilton's cars. A fitting touch for a true legend of the sport.
The other headline story coming into the weekend is that championship leader Kimi Antonelli will start his home race from the back of the grid, as Mercedes have (somewhat controversially) used this weekend to provide Antonelli with a new power unit and the grid penalty that comes with it.
What this leaves us with is the prospect of a thrilling Italian Grand Prix with the championship leader looking to make his way through the grid in front of a home crowd roaring on every overtake.
Then you have the home team Ferrari in their iconic livery, a seven-time world champion, a back-in-form Leclerc and a car with fresh upgrades that might well make them the team to beat this weekend.
And if that wasn't enough, the current world champion Lando Norris is in the form of his life and produced arguably the best performance of his career to win in Zandvoort last time out. So expect him to be red-hot this weekend as he battles the Ferrari's and fellow British driver George Russell (who leads Mercedes' charge this weekend). This should be epic...

Arsenal vs Chelsea - 17:30 CET
The first massive clash of the Premier League season takes place this Sunday, with champions Arsenal hosting challengers Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium, in what is set to be a real clash of styles.
Both sides have started the season perfectly, picking up six points from six, but in very different ways. Arsenal are yet to concede in three games, including in their Community Shield victory over Manchester City, demonstrating why they have an utterly imperious defence - perhaps the best in Europe.
Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso's Chelsea have been an electric offensive outfit, scoring seven goals in their first two games, but conceding five times. Interestingly, in their last match against Brighton they had 26% possession, and against Fulham 38%, signalling they are happy to sit back and hit teams on the counter-attack with their sensational front three, Morgan Rogers, Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer.
Question marks remain over Arsenal's attacking stardust, having failed to recruit adequately in that department during the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Chelsea lost Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for a British record £125 million, and didn't manage to replace him after their move for Lamine Camara dramatically broke down on Deadline Day.
Mikel Arteta's men are the favourites in this match, and the favourites to go on and retain the title for the first time in 91 years. However, the Blues have a chance to prove they are Premier League contenders for the first time in years under a new manager, and can push their London rivals all the way this campaign.

Juventus vs AC Milan - 20:45 CET
Sunday night's Serie A clash is an early-season thriller, as Juventus and AC Milan square off at the Allianz Stadium. With both sides having won their opening two games, at least one of the duo will see their perfect start come to an end.
La Vecchia Signora have not won the Scudetto since their nine-year domination came to a close in 2019/20. There is a considerable amount of pressure for Luciano Spalletti and his side to come out on top this time, especially given last season's late collapse resulting in them falling out of the top four. One of six clubs to have the maximum amount of points thus far, Juve have yet to concede in the two matches thus far - something only AS Roma and Lazio can also say.
Milan also suffered a disastrous end to the 2025/26 term, picking up just 10 points from their final 10 matches. The Rossoneri last won a trophy in 2024 with the Super Coppa Italiana and, like Juve, are looking to end a fairly long run without the league title. Wins over Torino and Venezia have Ruben Amorim's troops among the sides with an early 100% record. The 2023/24 season was the last time they started with three victories.
This will be the 311th time that Juve and Milan will face off in all competitions, with the former leading the head-to-head 115 to 102 (93 draws). However, neither of the 2025/26 meetings saw the pair find the back of the net. The Rossoneri's last win away came in 2022/23, when they did the double over the Bianconeri. Juventus, meanwhile, have not done a season double in this fixture since 2018/19.
With both teams featuring in the Europa League this term, this could be one of many matches where they will face off. It will be key to commence the year with a statement victory, and this will be the best way to do so. Ensure your Sunday night is free, as you will not want to miss this one.
