Dutch handball star Estavana Polman announced on Instagram on Friday that she will end her career when the season is over.

"Hello, everyone. The time has come. When the season ends, I will end my professional career. I would like to thank everyone who has been part of the journey. It has been turbulent with ups and downs, but overall, it has been beautiful. Handball has made me the person I am today, and I am grateful for that. On May 23rd, I will play my last match, and I hope everyone will come and watch it, and I can't wait to see you", she says in the video, among other things.

In the Dutch national team, she won gold at the World Championships in 2019, while she also won silver and bronze at the prestigious tournament during her career. In addition, she has a silver and bronze medal from the European Championship.

From 2011 to 2022, Polman played in Denmark, where she became champions with Team Esbjerg three times in the period 2013 to 2022.

Estavana Polman’s departure from Team Esbjerg in 2022 was considered controversial due to a sudden, forced exit after nine successful seasons.

Despite being a star player, management decided she was not in their plans following long-term injuries, leading to an abrupt end to her contract
