Frolunda cruised to victory over Finnish opposition in round one, but KooKoo were a tougher nut to crack than SaiPa had been in their 6-1 win, as though Samuel Fagemo put the Swedish side ahead inside three minutes, Miska Siikonen drew the visitors level with five minutes of the second period to play.
No goals in the third meant overtime, in which, the visitors conceded an early penalty, and Fagemo slotted it home to score his second of the game and win the match, 2-1.
SaiPa put their loss to the Gothenburg side behind them in style by winning 7-2 away to Herning Blue Fox in Denmark thanks to a pair of mid-period blitzes. Janne Naukkarinen scored the first of two in three minutes midway through the first period to get the Finnish side motoring, before a shorthanded goal from Nick Zabaneh completed a run of three in three minutes halfway through period two.
Herning briefly threatened a comeback with a pair of goals late in the second, but SaiPa ended any lingering hope with two more of their own in the third, as Naukkarinen scored his second.
Top of the standings are Swedish champions Skelleftea, who cruised to a 3-1 victory away at Adler Mannheim. Vaxjo Lakers are off the mark following a 3-1 win over Nitra, but Rogle are still to score after they followed up their 4-0 loss to Plzen with a 1-0 defeat at Pardubice.
Finnish champions Tappara came from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at home to Kolner, only to allow the German side back in to the match and send it to overtime at 4-4, before Ryan MacInnes struck the winner for the visitors, leaving the Tampere side with one win and one loss so far.
