The meeting of the Swedish Hockey League's (SHL) two in-form sides went the way of Farjestad, who shut out Timra and went five points clear at the top thanks to Frolunda losing to Rogle.

A run of four wins in a row had taken Timra from last place to the play-off places, but a clash with Farjestad proved a step too far, as the leaders ran out 4-0 winners on the road to extend their own winning run to nine matches.

It took Linus Trygg less than six minutes to open the scoring, before Viktor Lodin gave Farjestad some breathing space with a little over three minutes left in the second period. Joakim Nygard wrapped up the win in the third, scoring while shorthanded, and then into an empty net with still over six minutes left, while Melker Thelin made more than half of his 19 saves in the final period.

Farjested not only moved five points clear but still have a game in hand over Frolunda, whose three-game win streak was ended by a 4-1 loss to Rogle, who, despite their inconsistent form, sit fourth as the highest-placed of four teams all on 17 points.

Both sides had a goal disallowed in the second period, but otherwise it was one-way traffic, as the hosts went 3-0 up through Joel Kellman, Daniel Zaar and Lubos Horky. The Angelholm added a fourth with 10 minutes to play from Albin Sundsvik, before Bosse Meijer ensured Frolunda avoided a shutout in the final minute.

Two other sides both locked together on 17 points are IF Bjorkloven and Malmo, after the latter won 4-2 away from home to go fifth, knocking the hosts down to sixth after a third consecutive defeat. The Redhawks never surrendured the lead after Emil Sylvegard took it in the third minute.

Orebro sit outside the top six but also on 17 points after they secured their second win in a row - a 3-2 home victory over Brynas in which Max Veronneau scored two and assisted the other, as Brynas slip to ninth following three losses and an overtime win in their last four.

But sitting above the 17-point club in third place having won three of their last four are Skelleftea, who cruised to a 4-1 win over Djurgarden, who in contrast sit third from bottom with three defeats in their last four. Oskar Vuollet and Oscar Lindberg were the top performers with two points each.

Back-to-back wins have lifted Vaxjo to eighth place, as goals from Dennis Rasmussed and Eemeli Suomi took them to a 2-1 win over Lulea, for whom Markus Nurmi's strike wasn't enough to prevent a fourth loss in five, as they fall to 10th place.
