As the European season came to a close at the weekend, our final team of the week in 2025/26 arrives. However, it is MLS and not any league in Europe that headlines our final edition after standout performances across the United States.

As always, we've chosen our XI using Flashscore's in-house player-rating system, drawing from the world's top leagues and cups.

Check out our latest Team of the Week below, and don't forget, you can now track your favourite players more closely than ever to see how they are rated in every match!

Here is our Team of the Week:

Goalkeeper:

Mike Maignan (AC Milan) - 8.8

AC Milan's number one, Mike Maignan, is rated as one of the best keepers in the world, and he proved exactly why at the weekend. Milan's final match of the Serie A season was an underwhelming 2-1 defeat away to Cagliari, meaning they missed out on qualifying for the Champions League. However, Maignan did everything he could to force a different outcome by making nine saves and preventing 2.65 goals in a masterclass of shot-stopping.

Defenders:

Critstian Pavon (Gremio) 8.9

Another defender that helped his side to victory at both ends of the pitch was Cristian Pavon, as the Argentine full-back utilised all his experience to guide Gremio past rivals Santos in the Brazilian league.

After 55 minutes, Gremio were 2-1 down and looking down the barrel of defeat against relegation rivals. Pavon had other ideas, however, as the full-back created Gremio's equaliser and what would prove to be a winning goal as the game turned on its head in a chaotic 15-minute period.

Youri Baas (Ajax) 8.6

Youri Baas might not have had the goal contributions that the other two centre-backs had, but his performance at the heart of defence was crucial to Ajax's narrow 2-1 win against Utrecht in a Conference League play-off.

Baas won five duels in a commanding performance at the back, but it was his line-breaking progressive passing into dangerous positions that made his performance stand out from his peers. Baas finished the match with an impressive 97% pass completion, including 18 successful passes into the final third.

Fallou Fall (St. Louis City) 9.2

Over to MLS (get used to us saying that this week) and Fallou Fall played a crucial role at both ends of the pitch to inspire St. Louis City to a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Austin FC on Saturday evening.

From a defensive point of view, the left-sided centre-back was faultless as he won nine out of 11 attempted duels and made six tackles in a commanding performance. Up the other side, Fall scored St. Louis' second goal of the evening to put daylight between them and Austin and complete a perfect individual performance.

Midfielders:

Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) 9.3

Sticking with MLS and the great Lionel Messi continues to age like a fine wine! In an epic 10-goal thriller between Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union, Messi got Miami back into the contest after an unselfish pullback for German Berterame to tap into an empty net.

Messi would then set up Berterame once again to square the game at 3-3 and set Miami on their way to an incredible 6-4 win.

Messi did limp off injured, though, which would have been a worrying sight for Argentina fans...

Paulo Dybala (AS Roma) 9.3

Paulo Dybala waved goodbye to Roma in style at the weekend as the Argentine creative midfielder set up both of Roma's goals in a 2-0 victory away at Verona. For the first goal, Donyell Malen initially missed a penalty but Dybala reacted fastest to guide a pass across goal for Malen to tap home.

Roma's second goal was when Dybala really came into his own, however. Dybala raced away on the counter before finding Stephan El Shaarawy with a typically genius backheel just as he was being closed down and the Italian veteran did the rest.

Evander (FC Cincinnati) 10.0

In a goal-fest of a weekend in MLS, Evander scored a perfect 10 as he inspired FC Cincinnati to a thrilling 6-2 victory at home against Orlando City. Evander scored Cincinnati's second and fourth goals and set up three of their other four goals en route to an emphatic win. Quite simply, everything good about their win came from the on-fire Evander.

Timothy Tillman (Los Angeles FC) 9.0

Back to MLS, and Timothy Tillman was the match winner for Los Angeles as they narrowly beat Seattle Sounders 1-0

With the game all square and looking set for an underwhelming 0-0 draw, Tillman made a darting run to the back post and directed a controlled finish into the bottom corner as he was sliding into the box.

It was a smart finish to send the home side into raptures.

Forwards:

Milan Iloski (Philadelphia Union) 9.8

Returning to Inter Miami vs Philadelphia Union, and whilst it wasn't to be his side's day, Milan Iloski still walked home with the match ball after netting a hat-trick in the 6-4 defeat. Whilst two of Iloski's goals came from the spot, his first was a brilliant dinked finish after a flowing Philadelphia move.

Three big chances and three goals - it is fair to say that Iloski did everything he could to help Philadelphia avoid defeat.

Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps) 9.6

Sticking with MLS and two first half goals by Brian White sent Vancouver well on their way to an epic 4-2 victory at San Diego FC. Incredibly White would go on to assist two second half goals, ensuring he was involved in all four of Vancouver's goals and complete an individually exceptional performance.

German Berterame (Inter Miami) 9.5

Completing the all-MLS attack, the previously mentioned Berterame was at the right place at the right time, like any smart forward would be (especially when playing with Messi), to take full advantage of Messi's creativity. After netting a first half brace, Berterame rounded off a complete centre-forward display by setting up Luis Suarez late on to add gloss to Miami's win
