For the second time in the space of a week, Wales face Denmark in the UEFA Nations League (UNL), though the mood in the Dragons’ camp is much improved after a huge win on Thursday.

Match News and Current Form

After a “really difficult” couple of months, Craig Bellamy lifted some of the pressure from his shoulders as Wales brilliantly came from behind to beat ten-man Norway 2-1 on Thursday. The Scandinavians are comfortably the biggest scalp of his tenure by FIFA ranking, with the result also marking the Dragons’ first-ever win in the top tier of the UNL. Wales were winless in six straight matches prior (D2, L4), yet will climb off the foot of League A4 and perhaps even into the top two if they can win here, and a return of just one competitive home loss since June 2023 inside 90 minutes (W8, D4) should offer plenty of hope to the Red Wall.

Denmark’s victory in the reverse fixture sits between defeats to Norway (3-2) and most recently Portugal (4-2), a game in which they came from behind to level twice. Consistency is clearly an issue for Brian Riemer’s men, who’ve seen each of their last nine games produce a different result than the one prior, a trend they’ll hope to continue here as they bid to replicate the previous cycle’s run to the quarter-finals. Keeping that up with a win looks a big challenge for a Denmark side who’ve emerged victorious from just two of their last 11 games on opposition soil (D2, L7).

Head-to-Head History

Having won the reverse fixture 2-0 last week, Denmark now boast four successive victories over Wales while conceding just once. Their away win here in the 2018/19 UNL cycle is their only previous H2H victory on Welsh soil (L2).

Hot Stats and Streaks

Wales’ last six home matches saw both teams score.

Wales have registered 5+ shots on target in five of their last seven competitive home fixtures.

Denmark’s last five defeats came in games that produced over 3.5 total goals.

Thirteen of Denmark’s last 15 competitive internationals featured over 9.5 corners.

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Daniel James’ goal on Thursday was his third in five competitive appearances for Wales and was his sixth successive international strike to come on home turf in games that saw both teams score (W4, L2). The reverse fixture stands as the only one of Denmark’s three UNL games Mikkel Damsgaard failed to register a goal involvement in (G2, A1), though he did assist the opener in their 4-0 H2H win at Euro 2020.

David Brooks has left the Wales camp, and neither appear to have suffered any fresh injuries on matchday three.

Betting Analysis

Given their improvement last time out and solid home form, a Wales win is priced up nicely here.
