Everton v West Ham (29/09/2025)

Everton return to Hill Dickinson Stadium eager to respond to back-to-back defeats where they face a West Ham side who could soon be in the market for a new manager.

Match News and Current Form

Everton’s week has been a bruising one, losing the Merseyside derby at Liverpool (2-1), before tumbling out of the Carabao Cup with a lacklustre display at struggling Wolves (2-0). With Everton’s long wait for silverware stretching past 30 years, fan frustration was aimed at manager David Moyes for playing a much-rotated side at Molineux. That was a decision seemingly made with this game in mind, and with fresh legs for this Monday night clash, Everton should be confident they can extend their unbeaten competitive record at their new stadium so far (W2, D1). A mere two defeats from their 12 Premier League home matches since Moyes’ return (W4, D6) should only serve to reinforce that belief.

West Ham’s mood is much darker, with fans having staged protests against the board and are becoming increasingly vocal about their dissatisfaction with Graham Potter, who has overseen five losses from the Hammers’ first six competitive games of the season. Another defeat here could well prove the end of his reign at the club, so he might perhaps take comfort from hitting the road, where West Ham’s last three Premier League wins have arrived.  Away wins tend to be convincing for the Hammers too, as each of those three came by a 2+ goal margin.

Head-to-Head History

Recent meetings have been evenly contested, with both clashes last season ending in draws, but since the start of 2021, West Ham have picked up five league wins in this matchup, second only to their record against Wolves in that time.

Hot Stats and Streaks

Everton are yet to concede a competitive goal at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Ahead of the round, only Bournemouth (14) have received more Premier League yellow cards than Everton (13) this season.

West Ham have conceded seven goals from corners this season.

West Ham are winless in their last three Premier League games on a Monday (D1, L2).

Key Players to Watch and Missing Players

Against only Burnley and Chelsea (both seven) does Jordan Pickford have more clean sheets than he does against West Ham (six). Hoping to dent that record will be West Ham’s Callum Wilson, who has scored eight goals in his last seven league appearances against Everton in the form of four braces.

Jarrad Branthwaite and new recruit Merlin Röhl remain doubts for Everton, while West Ham will be without Tomáš Souček and Aaron Wan-Bissaka
