University of Georgia's four-star safety recruit Chace Zion Wade Calicut was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after appearing in court on Tuesday.

Calicut's charge was in connection with a shooting that took place in Houston, Texas, on July 6th, exactly a month after finishing his visit to Georgia's campus.

According to court documents, the 17-year-old was constantly swerving and breaking in front of another car with two unidentified 17-year-olds in the driver and passenger seats.

A man in Calicult's car, later identified as Isaiah Brice Phillip (17), pulled a gun and began to shoot as the other car drove away with passengers unharmed. Phillip was later shot on July 20th during a pool party and died the following day.

Calicult, whose bond was set at $20,000, was ranked the No. 9 overall safety prospect in the nation out of Houston North Shore High School.
