Denmark on Sunday afternoon won the European Mixed Team Championships in badminton for the sixth successive time after a crushing 3-0 win against France.

On paper, the final was expected to be a close encounter, with Denmark entering as slight favorites. Jesper Toft and Amalie Magelund got the Danes off to a flying start after a tight encounter against Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue with the Danes coming out on top 21-11, 18-21, 21-15.

In the men’s singles, world No. 2 Anders Antonsen faced young French star Alex Lanier, ranked No. 17  who had won both of their two previous encounters. The match remained tight, with both players staying close throughout, but Antonsen always had a slight upper hand and in the end, he sealed the win 21-18, 21-19, extending Denmark’s lead to 2-0.

The third match featured Line Christophersen against LéOnice Huet which against expectations never turned into a thrilling contest as Christophersen proved too strong for Huet, who had otherwise performed well throughout the tournament.
