Mia Blichfeldt on Sunday afternoon celebrated the biggest win of her career when she for the second successive year won the Hylo Open in Germany by defeating the topseeded Indonesian Putri Kusuma Wardani in the final 21-11, 7-21, 21-12.

It is Blichfeldt's first tournament victory since the triumph at the same venue last year. The tournament has since been upgraded from Super 300 to Super 500 status, making Sunday's victory on paper her biggest on the World Tour so far.

Blichfeldt, who is ranked 19th in the world, was otherwise ranked 12 places lower than her opponent in the final.

The Indonesian won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Paris earlier this year, but has not won a tournament above Super 300 level, and it quickly became clear that Blichfeldt could easily be in the mix.

She won the first set superbly against a surprisingly indecisive Indonesian.

In the second set, the roles were reversed. At the halfway point, Wardani led 11-3, and soon after, Blichfeldt effectively gave up the set and concentrated on being ready for the third set.

It turned out to be a good tactic. She started in the "good" half of the court and stormed to an 11-3 lead. After the change of sides, however, she ran into problems. It looked critical as Wardani won six of the next seven points to reduce the deficit to 9-12.

But then Blichfeldt started hitting the lines and regained control. She made it 17-10 and cruised to victory without any problems.

Chances are you’re about to lose.
