The deal with Perez includes a mutual option for 2026. Chicago also designated pitcher Ron Marinaccio for assignment to make room for Perez.
Perez is entering his 14th season and will now be playing for his sixth team - fourth in the past three seasons alone. The lefty is coming off of a season in which he threw a 4.53 ERA in 26 starts between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Diego Padres. He gave up 151 hits in 135 innings pitched while walking 49 batters and striking out 107.
Perez has a 90-87 record in 269 starts with a career 4.44 ERA. He's just a few years removed from his All-Star year (2022) with the Texas Rangers where he threw a 2.89 ERA in 32 starts and a career-high 169 strikeouts.
