The brawl that broke out in the third quarter of the Mavericks-Suns game on Friday has official consequences for the three players involved.

They will have to pick their pockets in fines that will depend on their contracts.

The most heavily penalised, with a four-game suspension, is Naji Marshall. The forward responded to Jusuf Nurkic's assault with a punch to the neck. In addition, once he was ejected, he chased him in the corridors of the locker room to continue the brawl.

Nurkic, on the other hand, will receive a three-match ban for being the one who provoked the fight. He was the one who, after committing a foul on offence, turned on Marshall and slapped him in the head with an open palm.

The Balkan player ended up on the floor when his teammates and the referees were trying to stop the dispute because of a push from PJ Washington. Washington, for escalating the tension on the court, has also been punished with a game without pay.

These sanctions have been officially announced by Joe Dumars, the NBA's executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Mashall and Washington will begin to take their punishment in the Mavs' game at Portland in the early hours of Sunday morning. Nurkic, meanwhile, will start for the Suns when they play at the Golden State Warriors.
