Pierre-Paul played for the Buccaneers for four years between 2018-2021, being part of their Super Bowl-winning squad in 2021, but hasn't played a game since 2023.
He'll be joining a Bucs defence that ranks 27th in pass defence, 14th in sacks (32), and eighth in run defence. The team is coming off a 24-20 upset loss to the New Orleans Saints and have lost five of their last seven games.
They currently sit with a 7-6 record after starting the year off 6-1.
The 36-year-old Pierre-Paul is an All-Pro defensive end who was originally selected 15th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, with whom he spent the next eight years, winning a Super Bowl with the team in 2012.
A year after posting 12.5 sacks for the Giants in 2014, Pierre-Paul was involved in the fireworks incident that blew off his right index finger, middle finger, and part of his thumb.
"I wouldn't want my kids to go through something I went through," said Pierre-Paul in an interview with ESPN. "I learned from it. At the end of the day, I'm a big person, but this happened to me. It could happen to anybody."
But his career shouldn't be defined by the incident. Pierre-Paul would go on to have five straight seasons with at least seven sacks from 2016 to 2020, proving to still be a high-end pass rusher.
In 14 seasons, now officially about to be his 15th, Pierre-Paul has recorded a total of 631 tackles, 167 quarterback hits, 127 tackles for loss, 94.5 sacks, 55 pass deflections, 21 forced fumbles, and five interceptions through 182 games (150 starts).
