Wednesday, April 16th
23:25 CET - Well, that's it for the Champions League quarter-finals! To recap the key results, holders Real Madrid have been knocked out, as have Bayern Munich, Dortmund and Aston Villa.
The semi-final ties are as follows:
Arsenal vs Paris Saint-Germain
The semi-finals will be played on April 29th/30th and May 6th/7th. Bring on the next round!
23:00 CET - And it’s now literally game over in Madrid, Arsenal have beaten Real Madrid 2-1 and convincingly across two legs (5-1) to move into the Champions League semi-finals!
Next up for Mikel Arteta's men, a meeting with Luis Enrique's PSG.

22:57 CET - Gabriel Martinelli has added a late breakaway goal for Arsenal to make it 2-1 on the night and 5-1 in the tie. That is game over in Madrid.
22:55 CET - Inter have held on to draw 2-2 with Bayern, meaning they advance to the semi-finals after winning the tie 4-3.
After a goalless first half, there was a flurry of goals shared between the sides in the second, with the hosts hanging on to their narrow lead. Inter will face Barcelona in the last four.

22:35 CET - It's goals galore now, Bayern Munich have scored through Eric Dier to make it 2-2 in Milan. They trail 4-3 in the tie... still time!
22:33 CET - Or maybe it's not game over... Vinicius Junior has scored to level the match in Madrid, but Real still need three goals.
22:31 CET - Bukayo Saka has scored to surely put Arsenal into the semi-finals! And it's a lovely team goal too, capped off by the man who missed a penalty in the first half. At 4-0, you'd have to say, that's game over now.

22:27 CET - Meanwhile, in Madrid, Real are running out of time - 30 minutes left to score three goals...
22:20 CET - Inter have scored again! Former Bayern man Benjamin Pavard has doubled Inter's lead on the night and put them two goals up in the tie. Another corner, another goal, and in the quick time too. Have to say, that's poor from Bayern to concede two soft goals in a few minutes.
22:17 CET - It has not taken long for Inter to respond! Lautaro Martinez has restored their one-goal lead after firing in a loose ball following a corner. 1-1 on the night and 3-2 to Inter in the tie now.
22:10 CET - Bayern have scored against Inter to make it 2-2 in the tie! And who else but Harry Kane? The Englishman has finished well from the right into the far corner. Game on in Milan. Anyone's to win now.

21:54 CET - At the break in Madrid, it is 0-0 between Real and Arsenal. There haven’t been any goals, but there has been a bit of drama with Bukayo Saka missing a penalty for the Gunners and Los Blancos having one overturned by VAR. Arsenal remain 3-0 up in the tie, and the hosts are rapidly running out of time.
21:47 CET - At half-time, it is still goalless in Milan, and Inter thus remain in a 2-1 lead over Bayern Munich. There hasn’t been much to write home about, but Bayern are only one moment away from being on level terms.

21:36 CET - No breakthrough yet for Real Madrid, who remain 3-0 down in their tie with Arsenal. As you can see below, they have been favouring the left-hand side in attack.

It is still goalless in Milan as well, as Bayern look to draw level with Inter, who lead 2-1 from the first leg.
21:31 CET - After a lengthy check, the referee overturns his decision, no penalty! And no yellow for Declan Rice as a result. Drama aplenty in Madrid but no goals... yet.
21:26 CET - The tables have turned, Real Madrid have now been awarded a penalty! But VAR are checking the decision.
21:15 CET - Bukayo Saka misses the penalty!!! Oh my god, what a huge opportunity blown by the Gunners to put this tie to bed... It's a botched Panenka. Will they come to rue that?

21:14 CET - Arsenal have won a penalty thanks to some sloppy defending from Real's Raul Asencio, who's pulled his marker at a corner!
21:11 CET - An equalling interesting stat from Milan via Opta: Bayern's Thomas Muller is making his 163rd appearance in the Champions League, the joint-third most alongside Lionel Messi, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo (183) and Iker Casillas (177).
21:08 CET - Santiago Bernabeu is rocking tonight, and so it should be. Here's a good stat for you from there via Opta: Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is making his 47th appearance in the Champions League tonight, equalling the most by a player aged 21 or under in the competition’s history (level with Iker Casillas, 47).

21:02 CET - Play is underway in Madrid and Milan. Can Real and Bayern come back into their ties? Let's find out!
20:30 CET - We are only 30 minutes away from kick-off in the Champions League matches. Arsenal are then only 90 minutes away from the semi-finals, granted they can hold onto their 3-0 lead over holders Real Madrid.
Suffice it to say, it’s a huge chance for Mikel Arteta to take his side further in the Champions League than they have been in years!
Read more about how Arteta has a chance to make a statement this season here.
20:00 CET - Aside from the Champions League, there is one match in the Premier League tonight between Newcastle and Crystal Palace. That kicks off at 20:30 CET - follow that match live here.
19:50 CET - Below you can see how the sides will line up for tonight's Champions League quarter-final second legs:
Real Madrid need to overturn a 3-0 deficit, and they are well stocked to do so with Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Kylian Mbappe all starting in the front line. Mikel Arteta kept faith in the same team which soared to an impressive home victory in the first leg.

Bayern have work to do tonight as well, being 2-1 down. Departing veteran Thomas Muller starts for them, hoping to perform one last heroic act! Federico Dimarco returns to the left flank for Inter after missing the first leg.

18:55 CET - Hello and welcome back to our live coverage of the Champions League quarter-final second legs! This evening, we will discover the identity of the final two semi-finalists in Europe's premier competition.
We already know that PSG and Barcelona will be in the semis, but who will they each face next? Here's the situation ahead of us:
Real Madrid are hosting Arsenal at the Bernabeu, looking to overturn a massive 3-0 deficit. The winner of that tie will take on PSG next.
In the night's other match, Bayern Munich are visiting Inter, trailing 2-1 as it stands. The winner of that quarter-final will face Barcelona in the semi-finals.
Both matches kick off at 21:00 CET - we will have live updates from both right here!
Tuesday, April 15th
23:01 CET - And that is where we leave you for tonight but come back tomorrow at the same time for two more fascinating second legs.
22:57 CET - Barcelona have also avoided an embarrassing comeback by holding out against Dortmund to book their semi-final spot.
Check out the match stats here.

22:51 CET - Aston Villa's European journey has come to an end after a spirited second half response and an astonishing five minutes of drama.

PSG head to the semi-finals with either Arsenal or Real Madrid awaiting. They will need to show a lot more composure than that in the semi-finals, though. The way they let Villa back into that game will concern Luis Enrique.
Check out all the match stats here.
22:48 CET - Three minutes of added time and three minutes left for Villa to stay in the competition. Can they do it?
Time is running out fast.
22:36 CET - It is that man again for Dortmund! Serhou Guirassy completes his hat-trick to become the outright top scorer in the Champions League and put Dortmund back within two goals.
Borussia Dortmund have scored 3 goals in a game for the first time since 11th February 2025 against Sporting CP (W3-0).
22:27 CET - Villa really should be level in this tie now! Gianluigi Donnarumma has made three huge saves in the last 15 minutes to keep his side ahead as Villa's remarkable comeback is going nowhere.
This drama is what the Champions League is all about. It is what makes it so special.
22:23 CET - A stat which may or may not ease some PSG fans' nerves - PSG have won each of their last 56 UEFA Champions League games when leading by 2+ goals since a 4-3 loss to Deportivo de La Coruna back in March 2001.
22:20 CET - Amongst the chaos, Barcelona have settled some doubts that were creeping in with a vital goal against Dortmund to give themselves a three-goal cushion once more.
It was an unfortunate one too as Ramy Bensebaini Ramy Bensebaini put a Barcelona cross into his own net to bring an end to Dortmund's growing confidence of a comeback.
22:14 CET - What an incredible goal from John McGinn as the Villa captain releases a rocket from range, which finds the top corner! A beauty.

And now Aston Villa are ahead on the night as an incredible comeback plays out in front of our very eyes! Marcus Rashford pulls it back for Ezri Konsa inside the box, and the centre-back slots it into the bottom corner like a seasoned striker. Incredible.
22:10 CET - Dortmund are 2-0 up on the night and very much back in this tie! It is their top scorer Serhou Guirassy who heads in Dortmund's and his second of the night! Barcelona can't bottle this, can they?
Guirassy is now the joint-top scorer in the CL this season (Raphina also on 12).
22:04 CET - We are back underway at Villa Park! Can Villa produce the great escape? It seems unlikely.
And just minutes later, play is underway in Dortmund.
21:52 CET - Borussia Dortmund have responded well to the first leg humiliation with one goal back in a high-quality first-half display. The bad news for them is they need another three in the second half just to force extra time...

Listen to commentary of the second period here.
21:47 CET - Half-time from Villa Park and PSG are 45 minutes away from the semi-finals after adding to their already comfortable lead. 5-2 on aggregate.

As for Aston Villa, questions have to be asked of Unai Emery's starting lineup - why was there no place for his top goal scorer Ollie Watkins?
21:40 CET - Borussia Dortmund continue to cause Barcelona's high line problems as Karim Adeyemi forces Wojciech Szczesny into a strong save.
21:37 CET - But despite that, Villa have one back! A lovely sweeping move is finished off by Youri Tielemans, whose strike inside the box takes a huge deflection on its way in to wrong-foot the keeper.
21:35 CET - 41.2% of the action has been in the PSG third over the last 15 minutes.
21:28 CET - PSG are leading 2-0! The exceptional Nuno Mendes curls a beautiful effort from outside the box into the bottom corner as PSG go 2-0 up on the night and 5-1 ahead on aggregate. If it wasn't already over, it is now.

That is the full-back's fourth goal of this Champions League campaign as PSG's attacking full-backs deliver once again.
Opta insight: PSG have now scored 13 first-half goals in 14 games, only Barcelona (15) and Arsenal (15) have scored more in the 2024/2025 UEFA Champions League.
21:25 CET - Aston Villa might have a lot of work to do tonight, but the atmosphere is electric as their fans get behind them on the biggest game at Villa Park for many a year.
21:20 CET - Dortmund have the ball in the next again but it was way offside.
4-1 it remains on aggregate.
21:15 CET - Dortmund have one back! Their fast start is eventually rewarded as Serhou Guirassy scores his fifth penalty of the 2024/25 campaign.
21:13 CET - PSG are ahead! A rapid counter attack found its way to Ousmane Dembele, whose effort was well saved by Emi Martinez, but he could do nothing to deny Achraf Hakimi on the rebound. 4-1 on aggregate now and quite possibly tie over.
Opta insight: Hakimi has had a hand in more UEFA Champions League goals than any other defender this season (7 - 2 goals, 5 assists).
21:10 CET - A positive start here from Aston Villa, but PSG are comfortable enough and just starting to take control.
Dortmund, meanwhile, have made a flying start and really should be 1-0 up already!
21:00 CET - It is kick-off time - a big night of second leg action is here.
Dortmund against Barcelona kicked off a couple of minutes later but both games are underway now!
20:55 CET - Five-minute countdown! The teams are moments away from coming out of the tunnel for this big night of action.
20:40 CET - Just 20 minutes until kick-off in the second legs as the atmosphere begins to build at Villa Park and Signal Iduna Park!
20:17 CET - It is the away form for Barcelona that will give them confidence ahead of tonight.
Hansi Flick's side have won each of their last eight matches on the road in all competitions and are unbeaten away from home in their last 14 matches.
20:15 CET - As touched upon before, Aston Villa's home form is excellent: they are unbeaten in their last 17 games across all competitions at Villa Park (W11 D6) since a 2-1 League Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in October last year.
20:00 CET - In the other game tonight, the team news is also in from Dortmund:

19:46 CET - Just one change from Unai Emery is the answer as Amadou Onana comes into the team in place of Jacob Ramsey.
Slightly surprisingly, Marcus Rashford starts up front again ahead of fellow England international Ollie Watkins.
Meanwhile, PSG start Bradley Barcola over one of the stars of the first leg, Desire Doue.
19:45 CET - Ready for some team news? We should be getting some within the next few minutes!
Will Unai Emery make any changes from last Thursday's defeat?
Do Barcelona go full strength with important domestic games to come?
We are about to find out...
19:15 CET - Hello and welcome back to the Champions League for second leg action. Tonight promises to be an intriguing one. In Birmingham and Dortmund, the task is simple. The home sides need to overturn big deficits and produce a comeback for the ages in order to still be in the competition come the end of the night.
Follow both games with Flashscore.
There is a bit more belief about Aston Villa's chances of producing a comeback against a formidable PSG side, and their home record in the competition so far will give them belief of doing just that.
However, that third goal late in Paris gives PSG a bit of a buffer, and they also have the advtange of being an incredibly good start who are in immense form.
If Dortmund can produce a comeback against Hansi Flick's impressive Barcelona, then the footballing world will be stunned - it is an uphill battle.
Barcelona won the first leg 4-0 in a dominant and ruthless display which gives Dortmund little hope of progressing, but then again, stranger things have happened. I think?
