Charlie McAvoy joined hockey legend Ray Bourque as the second Boston Bruins defenceman in the last 40 years to reach a nine-point streak after he scored his fifth goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Olympian who helped lift the U.S. to a gold medal win over Canada this year. During his historic streak, McAvoy has posted just the one goal but has 10 assists. He now brings his season total up to five goals and 36 assists through 47 games.

Unfortunately, for the Bruins, they fell to the Flyers 3-1 in their second game back from the break.

McAvoy, 28, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Bruins since the team selected him 14th overall in the 2016 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut the following season and earned a spot on the 2017-2018 All-Rookie Team after posting seven goals and 25 assists in 63 games, also placing fifth in voting for the Calder Memorial Trophy (Rookie of the Year).

Since then, McAvoy has developed into one of the league's more premier defencemen, recording at least 35 assists in four of the past five seasons, also setting a career high in goals (12) during his 2023-2024 campaign.

He needs 11 more assists this season, with just 23 games to go, if he wants to set a new single-season high.

McAvoy has 65 goals and 276 assists through 550 games.
