The Cincinnati Reds are calling up their No. 1 prospect Sal Stewart with 25 games left to go this season.

Stewart has been on a tear this season in the minor leagues, slashing .309/.383/.524 with 20 home runs, 80 RBI, and 17 stolen bases.

The 21-year-old former No. 32 pick in the 2022 MLB Draft started the year in Double-A ball, where he hit .306 with 10 home runs and 44 RBI in 80 games. Then, after getting the call-up to Triple-A, Stewart almost matched those same exact numbers in just 38 games, hitting 10 home runs with 36 RBI.

He even improved his .306/.377/.473 slashline in Double-A to a ridiculous .315/.394/.629 (1.023 OPS). Now, he'll be joining a 69-68 Reds team that is just four games back of the third and final Wild Card spot, currently held by the New York Mets (73-64).

After losing three straight series, the Reds need all hands on deck to make a playoff push this season. They'll start their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, September 1st.

Chances are you’re about to lose.
