The Cleveland Guardians clinched a 2025 MLB Postseason spot on Saturday after the team walked it off in the bottom of the ninth inning due to a hit-by-pitch.

After loading up the bases, Texas Rangers pitcher Robert Garcia beamed C. J. Kayfus to send the Guardians to the postseason.

Cleveland has a chance to clinch the American League Central if they win their final game of the season on Sunday against the Rangers.

After going 2-1 in the first inning, the Guardians were held scoreless throughout the rest of the game until it mattered the most.

Johnathan Rodriguez put the Guardians up with a two-run bomb, his second of the year. Rodriguez was also the only batter in the Guardians lineup to record more than a single hit during the game, going 2-for-3 by the end of the night.

But the Rangers fought back and tied it up 2-2 at the top of the fourth inning.

Adolis Garcia launched a solo home run to left-center field for his 19th of the year.

Relief pitcher Cade Smith earned his eighth win of the year after tossing 1.2 innings to finish the game. Starting pitcher Joey Cantillo went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out eight and walking none.

The Guardians' bullpen threw a combined 4.1 innings shutout the rest of the way, striking out five batters while giving up just three hits.

Garcia earned his eighth loss of the year for the Rangers after starter Jacob Latz went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on two hits with six strikeouts.

At one point this season, Cleveland was 42-48 and 15.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central. Now, they have a chance to make baseball history and win the division.

Chances are you’re about to lose.
