The second weekend of the T20 World Cup is upon us and we have picked out four matches to dive into for what will hopefully be another break-even weekend after Brian Bennett's heroics for Zimbabwe last week.

The Super 8 stage is slowly beginning to take shape with Afghanistan's losses to New Zealand and South Africa almost certainly condemning them to an early exit and several leading contenders, such as India, Pakistan and South Africa, winning their first two matches to put one foot into the next stage of play.

Betting sites always offer a large array of engaging and interesting cricket betting markets and, after having a play at top bowler/batter markets last weekend, we are this time exploring individual under/over runs/wickets handicaps.

England v Scotland, Saturday, 8:30pm AEDT

A lot of time has passed since Scotland infamously defeated England in a one-off Edinburgh ODI in 2018, but their abandoned T20I meeting two years ago should give the Scots a lot to be encouraged by.

Current opening pair George Munsey and Michael Jones put on 90 runs unbeaten in ten overs before Barbados rain brought a premature end to the match and those two come into this rematch having piled on a 126-run opening stand against Italy.

We didn't get to see number three Brandon McMullen against England two years ago but he continues to come in leaps and bounds on the international stage. His individual under/over mark of just 13.5 runs looks borderline insulting considering he has cleared that mark on all four occasions this month in India, including warm-up games against Afghanistan (20) and Namibia (95).

Three half-centuries from four meetings with Australia in 2024, one of them at the World Cup, further demonstrates his ability to get on top of elite bowling attacks, so we're anticipating him to put in a solid score here.

Tip: Brandon McMullen over 13.5 runs - 1.83 @ Bet365

Bet explanation: Brandon McMullen needs to score at least 14 runs against England.

New Zealand v South Africa, Sunday, 12:30am AEDT

New Zealand v South Africa

A potential prelude of a knockout match will take place in Ahmedabad seven months after South Africa defeated New Zealand three times in one fortnight, when they played a tri-series against Zimbabwe in Harare as part of preparations for this tournament.

New Zealand have hardly been challenged at this tournament so far in two comfortable run chases, whilst the Proteas have scored even quicker than the Blackcaps, making 213 (v Canada) and 187 (v Afghanistan) in the two matches in which they were asked to bat first.

Ngidi is one of the tournament's leading wicket-takers having already notched up seven in his two games so far, putting him on a run of four of his last seven T20Is to have claimed multiple scalps.

Combine that with a handy 2-24 in that tri-series final against New Zealand and a T20I record of 3-28 against the trio of Tim Seifert, Devon Conway and Mark Chapman, and Ngidi is poised to strike at least twice in this crucial showdown.

Tip: Lungi Ngidi over 1.5 wickets - 2.50 @ Bet365

Bet explanation: Lungi Ngidi needs to take at least two wickets against New Zealand.

West Indies v Nepal, Sunday, 4:30pm AEDT

West Indies v Nepal
West Indies v NepalFlashscore

The West Indies are one step away from a Super 8s spot following their impressive wins over England and Scotland and should therefore be far too good against lower-ranked Nepal, who need time to lick their wounds from a humiliating ten-wicket loss to World Cup newcomers Italy.

Nepal have already conceded 20 sixes in just 32 overs bowled at this tournament, hardly the form required against an opposition who builds their success on conceding bulk sixes but biffing more than their opponents in return.

The West Indies will always have the dishonour of being the first full member nation to lose both a T20I match and series to Nepal, and one man who was not involved in that recent series in Sharjah was leading left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, who was being rested.

Motie was excellent in the win over England, taking three top and middle order wickets in three separate overs (Bethell, Banton, Brook) to have claimed three scalps in two of his last three T20Is. A repeat of that performance against a Nepal team to have already lost nine wickets to spin at this tournament makes backing him for 2+ wickets very appealing.

Tip: Gudakesh Motie over 1.5 wickets - 1.83 @ Bet365

Bet explanation: Gudakesh Motie needs to take at least two wickets against Nepal.

India v Pakistan, Monday, 12:30am AEDT

India v Pakistan
India v PakistanFlashscore

The ICC had tens of millions of reasons to be relieved when Pakistan rescinded their threat to boycott Sunday's game against India and now we can all enjoy a mouthwatering battle that will give the winner their place in the Super 8s and the opportunity to manage workloads through the remainder of the group stage.

India are immensely narrow favourites to win the game not only because of their title favouritism as defending champions and the world's number one ranked side, but also because of a lopsided 13-3 head-to-head record in the format that includes five consecutive wins, three of which were at September's Asia Cup in Dubai.

One man who had a particularly unenjoyable time in that format was Pakistan strike bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who racked up aggregate figures of 1-80 in ten overs, taking his T20I bowling strike rate against India to one wicket per four overs.

He doesn't look likely to improve those numbers here after claiming just one wicket in fairly uninspiring performances against both USA and Netherlands, whilst his medium-term form in the T20 game has been poor. Backing him to get under 1.5 wickets comes with a short price but looks to be a 50% boost to your weekend accumulators.

Tip: Shaheen Shah Afridi under 1.5 wickets - 1.50 @ Bet365

Bet explanation: Shaheen Shah Afridi needs to finish with one or no wickets against India.
