The mind-blowing records that were challenged or smashed at Sabina Park

It was certainly a 100th Test to remember for Australian great Mitchell Starc.

The West Indies crumbled in humiliating fashion on Monday at Sabina Park, setting all kinds of unwanted records along the way. Here are just a few of them!

7 - The number of batters dismissed for nought in the West Indies’ second innings is a new Test record, with nine teams sharing the previous record of six including when six English batters were bagelled against India in Birmingham during their current series.

9 - The number of runs conceded by Mitchell Starc in the second innings is the equal-sixth lowest of any man to take 6+ wickets in a Test innings. He shares figures of 6 for 9 with former captain Michael Clarke (Mumbai, 2004/05).

10 - The number of different Aussie men to have taken a Test hat-trick. Scott Boland is the first fast bowler to do so since Peter Siddle in the 2010/11 Ashes.

14.95 - The West Indies’ collective batting average for this series is the fifth-lowest of any team in any three-game Test series and the worst since South Africa in 1912.

15 - The number of deliveries needed by Mitchell Starc to record his 16th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. It’s the fewest from the start of one’s innings and beats the previous record of 19, which was shared amongst three men including teammate Scott Boland’s 6 for 7 against England in Melbourne.

16 - The number of Test matches with at least two completed innings to have not had a single half-century. Steve Smith’s first innings 48 was the top score of the game.

16.53 - Scott Boland’s Test bowling average, which is the best of any man to have sent down at least 2000 deliveries since England’s Sydney Barnes (16.43), who played on uncovered pitches before World War I.

21.50 - The highest individual batting average of the entire series, which belonged to Brandon King (129 runs).

23 - The number of wickets taken by Mitchell Starc in the first over of a Test, which is the second-most in history behind Jimmy Anderson (29) and ahead of Glenn McGrath (16).

26 - The West Indies posted the second-lowest total in 2595 games of Test cricket. Alzarri Joseph’s thick edge through gully ensured they avoided sharing the record of 26 with New Zealand. Their previous low was 47, also at Sabina Park, against England in 2004 when Steve Harmison shredded them with figures of 7-12.

75 - The highest score of the series, which belongs to Brandon King (Grenada), who as a side note made his Test debut in this series. It’s the lowest top score of a three-game Test series since 1888.

87 - The number of balls faced by the West Indies during their second innings of the match. It's the third-fastest all-out innings in Test history behind South Africa v England in 1924 (74) and Sri Lanka v South Africa in 2024 (83).

897 - The fewest runs in a three-game series for the West Indies, demolishing their previous worst of 970 against Pakistan in 1986/87.

1045 - Balls bowled across the entire third Test in Jamaica. It’s the fourth-fewest of any match to have had four completed (all out) innings and the fewest since 1910.

3177 - The number of overs needed by Mitchell Starc to claim 400 Test wickets, which is the second fastest of all-time behind South Africa spearhead Dale Steyn (2772.2).
