Sweden's female cross-country skiers continued to show they are the best in the business by taking both gold and both silver medals on offer at the latest leg of the 2025/26 FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Lahti, Finland.

The Swedish team weren't at full strength with Ebba Andersson and Emma Ribom among those not featuring, but plenty of the successful skiers from Milan-Cortina 2026 were in action, including Jonna Sundling, who took victory in the sprint freestyle.

Sundling pipped compatriot Linn Svahn on the line, finishing just 0.17 seconds ahead, with Germany's Coletta Rydzek taking bronze after finishing less than a second down.

Rydzek was, in fact, the only non-Swede inside the top five, as Johanna Hagstrom and Moa Ilar crossed the line in fourth and fifth, respectively, clear of Norway's Mathilde Myhrvold. Jasmin Kahara's 10th place was the best result for home nation Finland.

Sprint classification leader, Maja Dahlqvist, could only finish 12th after a quarter-final elimination, but still remains at the top of the standings.

In the 10km classic, Svahn again came home in second place and was again bettered by a fellow Swede, only this time it was Frida Karlsson who took victory, 4.1 seconds clear of Svahn, with Jessie Diggins in third place.

Sundling could only manage sixth place in the longer race, one ahead of Ilar, who was followed by the top Finnish performers, Jasmi Joensuu and Johanna Matintalo.

Diggins still leads the overall and distance standings, with Ilar second in both. Next week, the World Cup heads to Drammen and Oslo in Norway, before finishing at Lake Placid in the USA from 20-22 March.

In the men's events in Lahti, Johannes Hosflot Klaebo continued his domination of the sport, winning the sprint and 10km classical, as he continues to lead the overall, sprint and distance classifications.
