The Denver Broncos placed linebacker Dre Greenlaw (thigh) on short-term injured reserve with a hamstring injury ahead of their Sunday matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Greenlaw will be eligible to return for their Week 7 game against the New York Giants

Head coach Sean Payton said Greenlaw's thigh injury is different from the one he sustained in training camp prior to the season.

Greenlaw signed a three-year, $31.5 million deal with Denver in the offseason but has yet to play in a game. The seven-year veteran spent all previous six seasons of his career as a member of the San Francisco 49ers

However, he only played in two games last season after tearing his Achilles in Super Bowl LVIII.

Denver elevated Garret Wallow from the practice squad to provide some depth behind other linebackers Alex Singleton, Justin Strnad, and Karene Reid.
