Opening days of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games - all weekend

The 2026 Winter Olympic Games are here, and it's high stakes from the off in Italy with multiple medals to be handed out across the opening weekend.

Perhaps the biggest story comes in the downhill skiing, where American legend Lindsey Vonn is competing with a ruptured ACL just over a year after coming out of retirement. The 41-year-old has numerous accolades to her name including one Olympic gold already, but claiming a second with such a serious injury would surely be her greatest achievement, and one of the most remarkable in the history of the games.

Golds will also be up for grabs in various other skiing, skating and snowboarding events on both Saturday and Sunday, and there will be crucial group-stage clashes in the women's ice hockey.

You can read more about what to look out for on the opening day here, and can stay up to date with the latest news and the medals table here.

Six Nations double-header - from 15:10 CET

Following France’s emphatic 36-14 victory over Ireland in the Six Nations curtain-raiser on Thursday evening, the tournament continues this weekend with a thrilling double-header on Saturday.

First up, Scotland travel to Rome to face Italy, with Gregor Townsend’s side looking to continue their dominant head-to-head record of 14 wins from the last 15 meetings.

However, the Scots have left out several big names such as top all-time try scorers Duhan van der Merwe and Darcy Graham, so Italy might fancy their chances of an upset victory at the Stadio Olimpico.

Later on, at 17:40 CET, England and Wales lock horns at Twickenham, with Steve Tandy’s men looking for their first head-to-head away triumph in the Six Nations since 2012.

The in-form Red Roses have won 11 consecutive Tests, though, and will be the overwhelming favourites to continue that impressive streak against a side that’s winless in the tournament since March 2023.

Keep track of all the Six Nations action here.

Liverpool vs Manchester City - 17:30 CET

We’ve got one hell of a game to close out the Premier League’s weekend program, and that’s Liverpool hosting Manchester City at Anfield!

Rewind a few weeks, and it felt like City were going to overtake Arsenal in the league standings, while the Reds were looking all out of sorts and in danger of missing out on the top five completely. A lot has changed recently, however.

In their last six Premier League outings, Pep Guardiola’s side have won just once, with four draws and a loss. That slide has let Arsenal build up a six-point lead at the top of the table, and left many wondering: Is the title race over? Not quite, but it’s trending that way.

Arne Slot’s troops, meanwhile, broke from their own poor patch of form (five league matches without a win) by earning a morale-boosting and convincing win over Newcastle last Saturday. Now just one point off Chelsea in fifth, all doesn’t seem so bad on Merseyside, especially with Florian Wirtz finding rhythm and Hugo Ekitike banging in the goals (10 already in the league this season).

At the other end of the form scale is the usually brutal Erling Haaland, who did score in the last Champions League's final Matchday but otherwise hasn’t in his last eight outings. Add to that concern the fact that City somehow surrendered a 2-0 lead at Spurs last weekend, and you’ve got yourself a mini crisis over at the Etihad.

City will derive confidence from making the League Cup final in midweek, however, and from thrashing Liverpool 3-0 last time the sides met in November.

Depending on how results fall leading into and in this game, City could be closing back in on Arsenal or, at worst, dropping down to third come the end of the weekend. Liverpool, for their part, could even find themselves in the top four come Sunday evening. It’s all to play for!

Paris Saint-Germain vs Marseille - 20:45 CET

Sunday night will pit together France's two most successful teams, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille, in the latest instalment of Le Classique. There is certainly no love lost between these two great rivals, who will be looking to grab three points in what is a fascinating title race.

While many would have expected PSG to have already run away with the title by now, it is far from the case. Les Parisiens just took back top spot in the league, and are in a tight race with Lens. With the second-most goals scored and joint-fewest conceded though, the capital club are still heavy favourites to retain the title. Since a shock loss to AS Monaco at the end of November, Luis Enrique's side have won all six domestic matches.

Marseille have had a rather tough stretch, getting knocked out of the  Champions League in dramatic fashion. That was then followed by a 2-2 draw against PSG's local rivals, Paris FC. While l'OM did advance in the Coupe de France, Roberto De Zerbi's charges will hope to get back to winning ways in the league and maintain any faint hopes of a first title since 2009/10.

This is already the second time that PSG and Marseille will face off this calendar year. The pair did battle in the Trophee des Champions, France's Super Cup, a month prior. A last-gasp Goncalo Ramos goal forced a penalty shootout, where PSG came out on top.  Beyond that, OM did win the reverse fixture in the league; A Marquinhos own goal was enough to settle the score at Stade Velodrome, marking the first time Marseille had beaten PSG in the league since 2020.

This truly is one of the biggest matches in Europe this weekend, as France's most renowned match promises to be a must-watch.

New England Patriots vs Seattle Seahawks, The Super Bowl - 00:30 CET

Super Bowl Sunday is almost upon us, and you don't want to miss what is the biggest event in American sport.

The New England Patriots are 5-0 against the NFC this year, while the Seattle Seahawks are 5-0 against the AFC. Both teams boast stacked defences, while also presenting dangerous offences that could get hot at any moment.

Should Seattle hold all New England rushers individually under 100 yards, they would become the first team since, ironically, the 2016 Patriots, to ever hold opposing rushers under that mark in every game of their Super Bowl run.

Patriots’ Drake Maye has the chance to become the youngest quarterback in the history of the NFL should he lead his team to victory. The young QB is currently sitting alongside Los Angeles Rams’ QB Matthew Stafford for this year’s NFL Most Valuable Player Award.

The two teams previously met in 2015 during Super Bowl XLIX, in which the Patriots sealed a 28-24 win following a Malcom Butler interception at the goal line - an instance that now Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald will make sure won’t happen again if the chance were to arrive once again.
