Thanks to this victory, the Danish side passed the Hungarian runners‑up in the table with 11 points, now equal with Paris Saint‑Germain in fifth place.
However, there wasn't much to indicate that the Danes would leave Szeged with a win in their hands when the home side came out flying from the start and took a 5-1 lead.
But only ten minutes later, the Danish team had turned the match around in their favor to lead 10-8, as Michael Apelgren was forced to take a time-out for the hosts.
The time-out had the intended effect as the home side led 16-15 at halftime, and the momentum often shifted in favor of both sides in a hugely entertaining end to the game where Szeged levelled the score at 31-31 with six minutes left on the clock. Finally, three successive goals from the visitors left the hosts visibly deflated as the Danes had the last say in the match.
Frederik Bjerre extended his tally to 93 goals in the tournament.
