Johan Hansen, who's won the Handball World Championships four times with Denmark, leaves Flensburg-Handewitt to join Skanderborg AGF on a three-year deal.

"I have been looking forward to being able to publish it. It has been a long process and we have considered all options."

"I have taken my time and researched the offers that were there, but I think that the gut feeling and the things that we have talked to Skanderborg AGF about were the right thing for us", says the Danish national team winger to TV 2 Sport.

31-year-old Johan Hansen played four seasons for Skanderborg from 2011 to 2015 before joining Bjerringbro-Silkeborg.

Skanderborg AGF are very pleased to welcome the Danish international.

"Scoop can become a well-worn cliché, but in this case I don't think it is. It is very surprising to us that it has succeeded."

"I have been informed along the way that it could be a possibility. I thought that there was a long way to go, but it turned out successful. I am naturally happy about that", says head coach Nick Rasmussen.

Johan Hansen is one of five Danish national team players who have won the World Championships four times. The others are Mads Mensah Larsen, Magnus Landin, Simon Hald and Henrik Mollgaard.

Since his debut on the Danish national team, Johan Hnasen has played 106 matches winning four World Championship gold medals, European Championship silver in 2024, European Championship bronze in 2022 and Olympic silver in 2021.
