Althea Reinhardt and Mette Tranborg will miss the upcoming Women's Handball World Championships says the Danish Handball Federation in a press release.

Denmark will have to do without Mette Tranborg or Althea Reinhardt at the World Championships, which begin next week, as further examinations have shown that they will not be able to recover from their injuries.

Mette Tranborg suffered a torn ligament in her calf in Thursday's match against Sweden and will be out for at least 2 weeks - probably longer.

Althea Reinhardt has been struggling with an injured knee for a long time, but there were hopes that she could be ready through targeted rehabilitation. This now turns out not to be possible.

"It is a great loss to have to do without two such experienced players for a World Cup. It would hurt all teams. We have promised each other that we will continue to fight and give everything we have, and then we will have to see how far it can take us at the final round", says national coach Helle Thomsen, and continues:

"We already have Amalie Milling in the squad, and she showed yesterday that she is ready to take over. We have not yet decided who will replace Mette Tranborg", concludes Thomsen.

Denmark will meet Sweden tomorrow at 16.00 CET in the last test match before the World Cup, which begins on Thursday, 27 November
