It's all change at the top of the Liiga standings - with no match tonight, previous leaders TPS Turku have been knocked off top spot by Kiekko-Espoo, while the best records in the league so far belong to Assat and JYP, who have moved into second and third, respectively.
Having played more matches so far than any other team, Kiekko-Espoo are at an advantage when it comes to getting more points on the board, and a fifth win in eight was enough to go top, beating Lukko 4-2 at home.
A Tomi Sallinen goal on the powerplay put the home side ahead in the seventh minute, and that's how it stayed until two minutes into the second period, when Ponthus Westerholm grabbed an equaliser.
But it was a case of rinse and repeat for the Kivikova, as on their fourth powerplay of the period, Sallinen was again the man to take advantage and restore the lead.
Back came Lukko again - an even faster goal at the start of the third from Alex Beaucage made it 2-2, but after Matti Jarvinen put the Espoo side ahead once more, the visitors were forced to pull the goaltender. That backfired, allowing Janne Hamalainen to make it 4-2 with an empty-net goal.
It's three wins from seven so far this season for the side from Rauma, but that is enough to keep them in the top half for now - they sit seventh.
Despite sitting in Kiekko-Espoo's shadow, there is no denying that Assat and JYP are having the best seasons so far - they have also won five games each this season, but after only six games played.
A turnaround in the third period allowed Assat to take the points in the 3-2 away win over Ilves, while a pair of early goals set the tone in JYP's 4-3 victory over Tappara, who have now fallen to fifth after consecutive losses, having begun the campaign with four wins in a row.
On something of a roll now are KooKoo, whose 6-3 win away in Oulu against Karpat has seen their unbeaten run stretch to three matches.
It's back-to-back wins for Jukurit, who complete the top half having beaten SaiPa 2-1 away. That leaves last season's beaten Playoff finalists with just two wins from seven matches so far.
Finally this evening, Hameenlinna saw off Pelicans 5-2 to move ninth with a third win in four, while it's five defeats on the spin for the Lahti side, two of which have come in overtime.
