The National Hockey League (NHL) had just two games on Wednesday, which saw comebacks from the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers in their respective wins.

Ottawa Senators 2-3 Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens made it three consecutive wins thanks to a 3-2 victory over fellow Canadian team Ottawa Senators.

It did not take long for the Habs to go in front through Juraj Slafkovsky, who made the most of a power play situation 76 seconds in to put his team in front. The Sens did respond later in the frame, with Drake Batherson netting twice to put the capital team ahead.

It took until the end of the second period for Alexandrea Texier to level the score, making the final period quite interesting. It was there where Montreal got their winner, as Ivan Demidov converted his opportunity.

The Habs go level for third spot in the Eastern Conference after their third consecutive victory. As for Ottawa, they are five points out of a playoff spot at this stage.

Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 Washington Capitals

At the Xfinity Mobile Arena, the Philadelphia Flyers topped the visiting Washington Capitals 4-1 to get their 20th regular season win of the year.

Ryan Leonard scored the only goal of the first period, finishing off a power play midway through to give the Caps the advantage.

The lead would last until 4:23 in the second, where Travis Kocecny tied things up for the Flyers. It went downhill from there for Washington, who conceded again almost eight minutes later from Trevor Zegras.

Jamie Drysdale and Owen Tippett added one each in the final frame to round out the scoring as the Flyers are now tied on points with the Caps after the win. It is now four losses in Washington's last five outings.
