Nashville Predators 5-6 Minnesota Wild (OT)
An incredible contest at the Bridgestone Arena went the Minnesota Wild's way in a 6-5 defeat of the Nashville Predators in overtime.
The guests got half of their goals on the night from Matthew Boldy, who netted his hat-trick at the 12:58 stage of the first period. The second line winger scored the first three of his team's goals as they went up 3-1 at that stage.
Although they were behind, the Preds did not give up. By the end of the opening frame, it was 3-3, with Steven Stamkos and Erik Haula getting the goals.
The home side got their first lead of the game just 41 seconds after intermission through Luke Evangelista. Their advantage lasted for nearly the whole period before Yakov Tenin tied things back up.
The teams traded goals towards the end of the third, before Jared Spurgeon netted the winner in overtime to give the Wild their 34th victory of the season. They are second in the Western Conference with the result. Nashville, meanwhile, are four points outside of the playoff places.
Colorado Avalanche 4-2 San Jose Sharks
Despite going through a rough patch over the last while, the Colorado Avalanche bounced back with a 4-2 defeat of the San Jose Sharks.
Artturi Lehkonen's double in the second frame gave the Avs the advantage in front of their home fans. At the end of the middle period, the team were in a great spot to complete the victory. Things got tricky after that, though.
Within the first four minutes of the third period, the Sharks were level. Timothy Liljegren and Philipp Kurashev tied things up to make things a lot more interesting.
Unfortunately for San Jose, that was the closest they got. Josh Manson scored what proved to be the winner 7:16 from time, before Brock Nelson's empty net goal iced the match.
Colorado remain in front in the Western Conference by five points over the Wild with what was their second win in three games. The Sharks, like the Predators, are on the outside looking in at the playoff picture in the West.
