The NHL had a rather quiet four-game slate on Monday night but, like always, it came with headlines - with the most important one being Colorado Avalanche's star play Nathan MacKinnon (29) reaching his 1,000th career point.

MacKinnon now becomes the 100th player in league history to reach the milestone after an assist to recently acquired Martin Necas (22).

Colorado went on to beat the Blackhawks 3-0 to extend their winning streak to six games and maintain their third-place standing in the Central Division.

Goaltender Scott Wedgewood earned his second shutout of the season, the eighth of his career.

Sabres 3-2 Oilers

The Sabres upset the Oilers on Monday night thanks to a pair of goals from Tage Thompson (33).

Despite being outshot 34-23, the Sabres managed to end their six-game losing streak with a win against one of the best teams in the league.

Senators 2-1 Red Wings

The Red Wings continue to falter after losing their sixth straight despite putting up 49 shots, losing by just a hair in the final seconds of the game.

Detroit has been outscored 22-13 during their losing streak and continues to fall even further out of a possible Wild Card spot.

Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark made a season-high 48 saves with just 27 alone in the second period. It marks the most in a game for the Swedish netminder since his 57-save night against the Boston Bruins on February 28, 2023.

Newly acquired Dylan Cozens' first goal as a member of the Senators ended up being the one to seal the deal as Ottawa rides a three-game win streak.

(The matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Utah Hockey Club will be updated after the game finishes.)
