The National Hockey League (NHL) had a six-game slate on Friday evening with some exciting moments that included an an insane shootout between the Vancouver Canucks and Columbus Blue Jackets while the Florida Panthers took home an overtime win in Brad Marchand's team debut!

In the Blue Jackets 7-6 win over the Canucks, 11 different players found the net with each team almost putting up 40 shots each.

Despite the Canucks going up 3-0 in the first period, Columbus responded with three goals of their own.

From then on, lead changes became a common occurrence. Yet, ironically enough, nobody scored in overtime and only Kent Johnson (Blue Jackets) found the net during the shootout.

Thanks to the win, Columbus (75 points) holds the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, holding the tie breaker over the Montreal Canadiens (75 points).

Panthers 2-1 Utah Hockey Club

Brad Marchand set up the overtime winner for the Panthers in his team debut since being acquired at the deadline.

The win put the Panthers in sole possession of first in the Atlantic Division with 91 points, followed by the Toronto Maple Leafs (90) and Tampa Bay Lightning (89).

Sam Bennett (25) scored both of the Panthers' goals in a game where Florida outshot Utah 32-14.

Jets 4-0 Devils

The Winnipeg Jets became the first team this season to reach 50 wins after a shutout over the Devils.

Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck had his seventh shutout of the season - most in the league - and 44th of his career.

Canadian teams have not let up on the Devils, as four of their past five losses have all been to teams north of the border.

Golden Knights 5-3 Blackhawks

Vegas quietly has the second-best win streak (five) in the NHL right now behind the St. Louis Blues (eight) after a win over a Blackhawks team waiting for the season to finish.

The win came after the Knights scored three unanswered goals in the third period.

But Ryan Donato (28) for the Blackhawks scored his first career hat trick to give his teammates something to cheer for.

Hurricanes 4-1 Canadiens

After going down 1-0 to start the game, Carolina scored four straight unanswered goals en route to their eighth win in the past 10 games.

Montreal was held to just 15 shots as they have now dropped their fifth straight game.

While the Canes are sitting comfortably in their second seed in the Metropolitan Division, the Canadiens need to rebound and quick if they want to retake that second Wild Card spot from the Blue Jackets.
